I don't know why everyone was so worried about the damage that would've been caused by the "prize fight" in season 5 after this

jack and or sam using the blade on lucifer wouldnt work coz the blades are only effective in the hands archangels.

AfterShowReactions

... but lucifer was telling sam to kill jack neither are arch angels. also asmodeus had the blade and planned to use it too...

Tony

Asmodeus was planning on using Gabriel to wield the blade.. But how would Sam be able to use it if he's not being powered by an archangel? Mind your step.. Plothole

Jason Veevaert

I think it would have been bigger if both Dean and Sam were using our specific Michael and Lucifer.

Since Lucifer took Jack's grace, Jack became human...so, Sam could've killed Jack.

I gotta say, I love this episode overall...but that fight scene was so cringey to watch both when it aired and again now. The special effects and wire/hanging work was just weird and out of place with the series. Like they planned the fight scene at the last second. The way it was produced combined with the freeze frame felt very early 90s. I did enjoy the show though and I'm glad we got three episodes this week.

If you remember when the blade was introduced, I believe it was Catch who told Asmodeus that it only works in the hands of an archangel, to which Asmodeus replied that he was well aware of that and that they needed to focus on one issue at a time. So he either planned to have Gabriel use it, or maybe it would have worked for him if he had "juiced up" enough with Gabriel's grace, not sure. I'm not even 100% sure if Asmodeus had a full plan, or just pieces of a plan.

Neither of them can kill Lucifer. The archangel blade can only kill him if used by an archangel. Jack at full power might be close enough to an archangel to kill him, but without his grace, definitely not.

I had a feeling you would appreciate this finale. It's one of the best. So intelligent.

Michele

The blade could still kill Sam and Jack too, now that he's without his Grace.

I loved the dawning realization that came over your face when Dean asked "what if you had your sword?", followed by what seemed to be shock?. Priceless! What we'd been waiting for ever since season 5! I was always disappointed we didn't get a chance to see Michael!Dean. We saw Lucifer!Sam. And now we do! yay! eek! I loved the bit where Michael!Dean showed up in the church and his wings spread out. OMG. The final scene with Michael walking down the street in the suit - I think Jensen probably had something to say about what Michael would wear. It looked like something someone in Peaky Blinders would wear, and that's one of Jensen's favorite shows. I wonder if Sam or Jack could have killed Lucifer with the archangel blade. We've heard that only an archangel can kill another archangel, using the blade. But the rules in SPN are always changes, so who knows. I doubt they could have been fast enough to use the blade on Lucifer anyway. He would likely be prepared for it and just swat them away before they could get to him. Finally, Lucifer is dead!! Finally!! Lucifer's weakness was his arrogance. Umm - that flying fight stuff was pretty wonky. I don't think it bothered you though. That's good. Poor Jensen felt so bad about how it turned out. He was apologizing to fans. I just realized something watching this finale. A question I should have had the first time. Why didn't Jack hurt the actual Michael? Why just the 'meat suit'? And why didn't Michael just leave the injured vessel? He would have just left and then maybe gone to Heaven, or done something else.

Michele

I was really disappointed by how badly it was done. Especially knowing how much work Jensen put into it and how proud he was of it - until he saw it. Then he felt bad about it and was apologizing to fans about it. Poor guy! It was made worse for me in knowing that it could have worked, but that the show likely cut corners who just didn't know what they were doing, since they'd never done that before. Other shows seem to be able to do that sort of thing.

"Death" on Supernatural.... Supernatural: *someone dies* Audience: Are they really dead? I haven't seen the body. Supernatural: *shows audience the body* Audience: Oh. There's the body. I guess they're really dead. Supernatural: Hold my beer....

Steve Quast

This is actually as far as I've gotten in the show. I haven't seen any of seasons 14 or 15, so when the time comes I may be watching them for the first time with you. And yeah, what a great season finale. What an ending.

Michael: You're wrong. You know how I know? Think of a million random acts of chance that let John and Mary be born, to meet, to fall in love, to have the two of you. Think of the million random choices that you make--and yet how each and everyone of them brings you closer to your destiny. Do you know why that is? Because it's not random. It's not chance. It's a plan that is playing itself out perfectly. Free will's an illusion, Dean. That's why you're going to say yes. (from season 5 episode 13. this is what i was thinking when i watched this episode when it first aired)

lol...I was just thinking "wow...13 seasons and she still doesn't know all the lyrics!?!" ... then you say the same thing. And I do go "wow" how is that possible, but truth be told...though I do know more of the lyrics than you do, I don't know them all either :)
