I do agree that death has lost it's power on this show. I love the show anyways, but it isn't going to make us cry the way it did the first couple of seasons. I always love the reunions though.

Castiel has died a few times, and those versions of him are still in the empty, I think. God said he “rebuilt castiel”, so that sounds like he’s building new bodies and putting the old memories into it. That kinda makes sense, since Castiel was originally a low level angel, with almost no powers when cut off from heaven, and after season 5, he was rebuilt into a seraph, where even cut off from heaven he’s fully powered and stronger than he was before even when he was connected to heaven.

2021-07-09 11:16:01 Yeah I believe GOD just remade our Cas before when he died so he didnt get him out the empty. Also shows that it's his son Jack and the close bond they have that's woke him up when Jack called for him & then Cas got the shadow who's in charge of the empty, to release him. Anyone else notice how Cas returned with his original trench coat. Jack is my adorable precious nougat angel, love him so much and never got so attached to a character so fast & badly.

I agree with you about death on this show - especially with Cas. But Cas is pretty special. No other angel like him. My Head Canon is that Cas's "spirit" never went to the Big Empty. That Chuck had resurrected him before he got that far. That this is the first time Cas has made it to the Empty. The Empty was a big deal when this episode first came out. It had been mentioned before in the show, but most of us had forgotten it. So hearing about both demons and angels going there was new for some. It made sense though. It is risky for the show to do this though. Killing of Cas using the angel blade made it Final and seemed more Real and Final than his other deaths. And got the Dean break down and fandom angst that the writers were shooting for. That's why they do these things. But they had done it before, so had to make it more Real this time. Only to have him come back again. Which please many fans and made some of us really frustrated. I was frustrated. I love Cas, but I was actually okay if he was dead. It had been a final death and fitting. They had to make his return valid some how. So we'll have to see what happens. Jack was the new part in the equation. Jack is able to wake up someone in the Empty. It didn't bring him back. Just woke him up.
