Your analysis at the end was spot on. Charlie was the best, and losing her to the Stynes, who were barely apart of the story, was a disservice to the character.

Unfortunately, I believe Charlie's death was a result of the show getting renewed for another season since apparently this was meant to be the final season. From what I gather, the season had a completely different ending and ended up being changed to further the plot of dean being more corrupted by the mark of cain and setting up the next season

It's not who Charlie was killed by it's that she died bc she was helping cure Dean her brother, her family it's about Charlie's sacrifice for her chosen family ,for the greater good plus this is Supernatural and EVERYONE DIES😎✌⚘🤣

Rowena tells Charlie that The Book of The Damned is written by a witch named Agnes that was kind of a nutter. Tongue in cheek reference to Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter.

Charlie's death made me so mad that I stopped watching Supernatural for about a year. Didn't even finish season 10. It's not that Charlie died, it's how she died and the reason behind her death. None of her actions leading up to her death are in character. She's not stupid enough to run off when there are people after her or to hide out in an unsecure location. Then there's the fact that she dies off screen. Our last moments with Charlie aren't of her fighting, it's of her dead body in a tub. And the biggest reason it pissed me off: Charlie was killed solely to foster another brother spat. Look, I accepted Jo's and Bobbie's deaths. Kevin hurt a lot. But this was just unacceptable.

I think having a loved character killed off by something/someone is not that bad of an idea if it serves a specific purpose. Which it did.

I felt like it was dumb of her and unlike her to run off like she did, but I think what a lot of people are missing is that she died protecting the brothers because of how much she loved them, plus im happy her death was offscreen and it was obvious thats how this episode would end. Unlike Jo and Ellens Death, Charlies is avenged by Dean the next episode
