First off I wanted to Thankyou Shan for allowing us to join you through this journey. I love this show so much and because of that I’m very picky with reactors so when I first saw you react to “welcome to the hellmouth” in December of 2017 I was a bit weary but after the first ep finished I was hooked. I can’t believe it’s finally over and I’m most likely going to eat my feelings with a nice tub of ice cream. The only consolation is that we have one more season of Angel. This episode is amazing, Buffy is literally the strength that keeps them together because when she got stabbed and fell, the others started to fall, when she got back up, the others did too. Anyas death was so out of the blue and incredibly sad but Spikes death literally made me feel like I lost a limb or something. Bring on Season 5 of Angel, too keen ❤️

One more thing with Disney's acquiring 20th Century Fox and Disney debuting a streaming service in the Fall. One of the things Disney is looking at is a Buffy reboot with members of the original cast coming back. It was talked about last year and is gathering steam. So this may not be the end.

It was great to watch the series again with you, Shan. And yeah... we were all sopping puddles of goo the first time around, too. (I generally still am.) The stabbing of Buffy worked because OMG, it was the finale, and they COULD do that. But then Spike... oh... I loved the waking-the-potentials speech.

Right there with you Shan on your reaction to the finale. I was really broken up over Spike dying. Anya, not so much. But Spike going out like he did was moving and it really touched me deeply. And yes, when Buffy was stabbed they had me! They really did. I thought she was going to die. Normally a show can't trick me like that, but with this being the finale they absolutely had me there. What a fantastic finish to a truly fantastic series. Thank you again, Shan, for allowing us to enjoy it with you! Looking forward to other reactions as well. Take care. :)

Once More With Feeling once... Or twice. Your love for the characters has been memorable to say the least and it was awesome to rewatch one of my top 10 shows of all time with you. Don’t be embarrassed. I have seen the entire series multiple times and I still get all the feels from this episode. Buffy turned out to be smarter than anybody else. I won’t be watching the movie reaction. The movie is nothing like the series. The people who made the movie just didn’t get what Joss was aiming for.

What an incredible journey, i rewatch the buffyverse atleast once a year, but watching it with you made it even more special. you won't be losing me as you're still doing AOS, Angel, The originals & new shows to come and i'm looking forward to them!

Since this looks like the time for sharing, I’ll do it too. I’ll try to be concise, but don’t hold me by my word on that. I want to thank you, Shan, and all the other people involved in creating this videos, for making the impossible possible: experience something you love for the first time TWICE; even better, since I stumbled upon one of your videos on Youtube (back then I didn’t even know reaction channels were a thing), I immediately felt comfortable with you, like I was sharing my favorite show with a long-time friend, despite language, cultural and generational disparities. I’ve loved seeing this show through your eyes. Unfortunately when season 7 originally aired Emma was not quiet about the fact that she was done with the show, if it continued or not. From 7x3 I was expecting her to die and there were several times they made it seem like she was going to, but saved it for the finale. There were other things that we’re spoiled by “next week on” and stuff like that. I feel like you got the better experience. I would also HIGHLY recommend you NOT WATCH the opening credits for the first episode of season 5 of Angel.

SMG was the most done. Her 7 year contract ended and she was finished. She told Joss midway through s6 I think? Otherwise he might have gone on... but he felt without 'Buffy' it would be a whole new show, so he let it finish... I'm so saddened. Even now. I wish Buffy had been able to keep going a bit longer!

I really wished they'd been able to do what Joss had planned when part of the ending was going to be Buffy getting one wish for saving the world, and her wishing Tara back to life. Just unfortunate that Amber Benson wasn't available for filming, because that would've been awesome.

Shan, I'm so proud of you! You have been a great friend to rewatch these episodes with! But more than that, you've set the benchmark for any other Buffy reactor. You kept a regular and full schedule that left me no reason to complain or feel I ever wasted my money. You were always my top priority to keep because of that. Any other Buffy reactors will have to do the same for me or they won't get my full support. I can't promise I'll stay subscribed because money is tight but I KNOW that with your work ethic, you won't have to worry about getting new patrons for your shows. This is amazing journey to go with you. Loving the soundtrack on the finale battle at the end. Didn't make much sense how the super vamps that Buffy had trouble at first killing but at the end Dawn and Giles etc managed to killed them. At least we still have Angel season 5. This show continues to get better with age. Someone once said that the most important word in the title of this episode is the word that is missing. There are still plenty of stories to be discovered on rewatch and some plot points from earlier seasons which may flesh out some of the stories you've seen. For example, I really love the parallels (or reverse parallels) in this episode with plot points from “The Gift,” “Primeval,” “Graduation Day” and “Becoming”. Thanks for letting us watch along with you. It's has been great and I'm looking forward to more Angel.

I love how 7x22 feels like the end of the show. This might be my favorite episode of any show. Wearing the original reaction top was a nice callback, thanks for that. One day I watched a random Buffy-related video on Youtube, and received a recommendation for an ASR reaction. I think it was What's My Line Part 1 with "I'm Kendra. The vampire slayer!" and your reaction to that moment hooked me. So I detoured back to 1x1 and started watching from the start. I started looking forward to those twisty moments so I can see what it's like to relive them for the first time. What an amazing way to rewatch an old favorite show of mine - I honestly felt I was watching it with new eyes at times. Thank you for sharing your honest and fun reactions with us! And I just want to say I noticed that it was the same shirt as 1x1 about 2 minutes before you said it, and I'm so happy it was on purpose! lol Anyways, cheers and I look forward to many more reactions to come!

I can’t believe this is over. Shan, you kept saying how you weren’t ready for this to end. I really wasn’t ready for your reactions to end and this journey with you to be over. I’ve had a lot going on in life recently, family stuff, and though I was still watching your reactions, I was mostly too knackered to comment, and somehow, this kinda crept up on me - or rather the last few eps rushed by. And because we have a season of Angel to go, and I love Angel season 5, and I’m still gonna be with you - I have all of your Supernatural reactions to watch now! Big hugs and sharing of grief over Spike’s death. I bawled my eyes out the first time I watched Spike die. I felt empty like I was grieving a real person for a week after. (!!) He died a hero saving the world though - as you noted, Giles didn’t expect that eh! I love the moment when Buffy gives Spike the amulet. “Angel said the amulet was meant to be worn by a champion.” Spike looks down and away. Buffy gives him the amulet. <3 <3 Willow’s spell was effing incredible, and her going all white witch godessy was beautiful. I love that we see by the end of the show that Willow can be powerful by tapping into light energy, not darkness. Buffy’s idea of empowering all the Potentials is groundbreaking and I love it. It’s very powerful. However, there were so many Uber Vamps that even having a couple dozen slayers would not have won the battle, and Spike’s blasting them away with sunlight defo saved the world. I love the flamey hands and Buffy’s ‘I love you’, though not exactly surprised at Spike’s response. I can see why the flamey hands got you upset Shan, as it does indicate final moment type stuff. So maybe I felt the same first time round? I can’t remember, as I find it a beautiful moment now, though also very emotional as part of Spike’s dying scene of course. Ok, Joss has a thing for big earthquakey sinkholes appearing and swallowing a town! ( First Avengers film! I was like, hey Joss got a bigger budget and he likes doing this :D). That’s one hellva way to close a Hellmouth. In closing the Hellmouth, Spike knocked over a Welcome to Sunndydale sign for the 3rd time. ( A bit of a flippant comment I know, so soon after Shan has watched Spike die, but still, I love this detail !! ). Other lighthearted moments: Angel being 12. Lol. “Now it’s all the cool new thing.” :D ( I do love this humour, but this and the kiss are very out of place with what has just happened on Angel, him giving up his son and everything they’ve been through.) And I heart Spike’s little drawing of Angel on his punching bag, with hair that ’sticks straight up’, cross eyes and wee fangs :D I’m totally with Buffy on the wrestling that could involve oil <3 - I’m a long time Spangel shipper :D :D This is an awesome finale. I think it’s my favourite finale, though often ties with The Gift. A brilliant episode - and all the feels that Shan you were appreciating how great this ep is through your tears <3 <3 One thing I’m not so keen on - Anya’s death is over a bit quick, a bit of a shocker for a main character. But then if Xander had found her body for a grieving moment that I would have liked, he may have been too grief distracted to get outta the school before it collapsed. At least her death was acknowledged with Andrew & Xander’s few words by the bus. I do wish there’d been a brief line about Spike from someone, in addition to Buffy’s one word answer of ‘Spike’ to Giles asking. I really like the optimism at the end about the future, but that results in it seeming that no-one but Buffy cares. Maybe they don’t as most of the Scoobies didn’t get to see much of how souled Spike had changed. Ok, a lot about Spike here, so I have to finish with - How badass is Buffy with that scythe!! Oh yeah, also - I heart Caleb’s balls first death, lol. Thank you Shan for all you have given us with all your Buffy reactions!!

While I love the finale....it does have one really big plot hole that I just can't get over. We've seen that Buffy (whose been training for 7 years as a slayer) struggled with one UberVamp, and it almost killed her....and yet, in the finale, the UberVamps all suck. I mean, Anya is killing them with one swipe of a sword (she literally takes out two UberVamps, with two swings)... It is never explained how any of the "potentials" who just got their powers, are able to hold their own against UberVamps either.... Basically, for "reasons" (which are never explained) the UberVamps suddenly are easy to kill. Of course, the "reasons" are that the UberVamps that we saw earlier in the season would have killed everyone in like 30 seconds....

That never bugged me much. Like anything else, killing the ubervamps would get easier as there was more training. Like Buffy learning that she couldn't let Caleb touch her and then being able to fight him, they'd all learned not to waste time trying to randomly stake them with a footlong stake, to go for the beheading when possible, and to use their agility. Just like in the first season, Buffy sometimes struggled with normal vamps. I also get the idea from how quickly Buffy recovered from her stab wound that maybe Willow's spell was also something of a power-up from normal Slayer strength. In Season 5, it took her most of the day to recover from getting hit in the gut with her own stake.

Really? Season 5 of Angel is one of my favorite seasons of the show....however, I know some people don't like it as much. Also, after Season 4 suckage, I know a bunch of people who stopped watching and didn't see season 5 until years later.

Shan - a recommendation of a very wee little Buffy related thing to react to. Or, if not a reaction, then here’s the link to go watch it anyway, because it’s awesome as hell. The Animated Adventures of Buffy - is a short animated tribute/fanvid. I say fanvid because this is not officially endorsed in any way.. However, it is made by fantastic professional comic artist Stephen Byrne, who does beautiful work. And also happens to adore Buffy. This Buffy animation is one of the best fanworks I have ever seen. It is a real joy. On Youtube it has 794,179 views and 8.6K likes. I’m not giving the link to that though, incase there are any Angel related suggested vids shown on the page. It was the 2nd half of the pilot episode. The pilot originally aired as one episode and then as tends to be tradition with 2-hour pilots, it got split into two episodes. That's why the "Welcome to the Hellmouth" ending is this awkward freeze frame.

The first time she was prophesied to die and actually died if only for a few minutes, the second time she was told that the only thing she could give was death and actually died and this time she has been told time and time again that she can't win so my brother had me convinced going in that she would lose. When she was stabbed and the battle turned I straight up thought to myself, they're going to lose and season five of angel is going to be a bunch of new slayers learning from Wesley (the last of the watchers) and fighting with angel against the first. You know that a show is good when they subvert your expectations by not killing off the main character.

Yup. I remember that feeling. Welcome to the realm of the heartbroken, Shan. If it makes you feel any better, this technically wasn't the end for Buffy (OR Angel, for that matter). This isn't a spoiler because I never read any of them, but Buffy (an eventually Angel) carried on in comics, some of which Joss Whedon himself actually wrote, from what I understand. So there's that! However, I wouldn't read them until after you watch Angel Season 5 because there probably would be some spoilers in them. Great job! Thank you for this :)

This may have already been mentioned, but I wanted to say I thought Buffy's response at the end (smiling) would have better fit with Faith's line rather than Dawn's. It seems like those two should have had their lines reversed, with Buffy smiling at the thought of not being the only Slayer now (a burden she carried all the way through the series).

Actually there is a season 8 you can buy on Blu Ray. It's a "motion comic" essentially taking the official season 8 comic book series and animating it somewhat. I believe the comics have a season 9 as well, both produced by Joss Whedon.

One of the biggest heart breaks is re-watching the season in episode 4 "Help". The throw away scene where Cassie right before she dies pulls Spike aside and says, "Someday she'll tell you." At the time you have no clue what she's talking about. But she saw that Buffy would tell Spike she loved him. When I watch that episode in hindsight it always gets me. Just a small scene but with huge implications. It's a scene that most don't reference.

Note that every time Spike came to Sunnydale, he knocked down that Welcome to Sunnydale sign. Triumphantly or drunkenly. Now the whole town collapses. Giles asks "what caused this?" "Spike" and the sign falls again. His last time knocking down that sign. Sad to see him go, but that is the way Spike would want to go out. In a blaze of glory. There has been debate about whether Buffy Loved Spike even though she said it, since he said she didn't. Note that Joss told them when doing the scene, he told Sarah that when she says that, to love him. So she does/did love him even if he didn't believe her.

I love that you were able to connect certain lines that were used back in season one like Giles saying "The earth is doomed." hehe And your reaction to Spike slowing but surely turning to dust 😭 yeah I'm with you there. And I still can't get over that scene but it had to be done. He definitely helped save the world. Another one who helped save but didn't make it was Anya who got bisected... and I still cant get over that. I dunno why. I guess I'm just glad that all the other main characters made it even if Spike and Anya didn't. It was a great finale although I remember watching it for the first time (it was on TV so there was no pausing, just waiting for the damn commercials to be over though, so I wasn't prepared for the dramatic moments at times lol) thinking, is... this really the finale??????? I mean, I was still kind of HOPING there would be another season. I felt this way about season 5 'The Gift' HOPING that Buffy would come back for another season. Anyway, well you still have one more season to go in Angel so it'll still be another exciting ride though!

Although I love watching Buffy, I don't believe fighting is the way to solve problems in the real world. Anyway, I don't think Buffy actually defeated the First. She just thwarted it's plan to end the Slayer line. The First is the thing that created evil, as Giles said, and evil continues to exist.

By the way, that scene where Buffy goes down to the basement where Spike is, Joss said he left that open for the viewers to decide themselves what happened. Whatever you want to have happened, happened. If you want them to have made love, they made love. If you want them to have talked all night, they talked. If you want them to have played checkers they played checkers. Personally I always went with the made love answer. Mainly because, I feel that William the Bloody Awful Poet, was a virgin, and he first had sex as Spike with Dru, and if he and Buffy made love that night, that would be the only time he made love with a soul, and with the woman he loves. All the sex they had before, is not the same as it would be as William with a soul.
