I am currently enjoying this show as it airs in the US. Season 1 previously aired in the UK. Like most shows and/or books involving the supernatural, the writers put their own spin on the rules. It does become tiring to learn the rules for every new such show. Years ago, I almost didn't watch Charmed because I wasn't wild about the rules they came up with and then when Supernatural started with more new rules I just couldn't be bothered and so I stopped after the pilot. Apparently in this show vampires are not affected by sunlight and can enter homes without being invited.
