I really liked seeing Bobby back working with the boys again in this episode. I think most of the other hunters we come across are basically the Red Shirts of supernatural. If you know what that reference is from, you'll know what that means.

My personal theory on why other hunters get killed all the time is that all they have in their lives is being a hunter. They don't really have anything else that gives them a reason for living. I mean, the life of a hunter seems like it sucks, and without some other strong emotional connection to make you want to live, I can imagine reaching a point where you just lose the will to fight. It might only be for a moment, but sometimes that's all it takes. Dean and Sam have each other, and they had Bobby, and Bobby had the boys, which gives them something more than just being a hunter to give them a reason to want to keep going.
