The reason the venom worked so quickly on Caroline is because Klaus bit into a main artery. Gets the venom to the heart quicker. Rose was bit in the shoulder, Damon nicked on the arm, hence longer suffering.. I feel so sorry for Rebekah. She's dealt a shitty hand again and again. Oh and don't get me started on Shane!! That man is loops of crazy!!! Poor Damon! He never believes that he deserves the good thing. He does, dammit! Yes, he's done iffy things, but his humanity was off. He's only been slightly iffy since he turned it back on 😂 and he cares way more than he lets on I love this show!

As far as I recall, they haven't actually said this, but I wonder if hybrid venom is worse than regular werewolf venom. When Rose and Damon were bit by werewolves, they both took a couple days before their symptoms got really bad. But when Caroline was bit by Tyler in season 3, when Elena drank the hybrid-venom spiked beer at Rebekah's party, and when Caroline got bit by Klaus, all three times they got really sick much more quickly.

Damon's deepest secret, which is revealed to us the viewers, but in typical Damon fashion doesn't reveal to others, is his own desire to be human again, also it all depends upon what he would be giving up if that was the case, as later talked about in the season. The sire bond and the cure, places doubt in his character as to what Elena feels about him, e.g. removes a certain amount of confidence and others characters thoughts and opinions, and we know how Damon acts as a character, his willingness to sabotage matters, e.g. his form of being selfless for the sake of others, especially his brother. Elena also just show how much she actually understands Damon and how much she loves him.

I don't think many people pick on a simple fact that is brought up at the start of the season, about how personal blood sharing is when Klaus saves Caroline for the second time, as we saw at the start of the season with Damon and Elena. Tyler has no understanding of this of course. Yet, this is the second time that Klaus had Caroline drink straight from him, instead of putting the cure into a bottle, like he did with Stefan in season three. It's definitely one of those tidbit that many over look I think in how personal the relationship between her and Klaus.

Here's my theory about the whole Damon missing being human thing.. in 1864, he wanted Katherine to turn him so that they could be together forever and over the next 145 years, I do believe that Damon enjoyed being a vampire. However, upon finding out that Katherine never loved home's, he began to hate himself. You can see it many times since he found out, believing that he doesn't deserve happiness and actively sabotaging himself every time he gets close. Now, at this point, having finally experienced love frome somebody that he loves, that self-hate has diminished some but I think that now, he wants to spend eternity with Elena but is still fearful that even if she does love him as a human, that it won't work out in the long run and he'll be left miserable and alone
