It's a pretty short origin if you compare it with Smallville 😉

Def going to watch this later when I have a couple of hours. I haven't seen this movie in decades... and I hate that I can say that. LOL

This is the extended 3-hour cut they released officially recently. It used to air in two parts on ABC when I was a kid. The original theatrical release was under 2 1/2 hours.

I'm just getting around to watching this now, and the thing with Jor-El saying he would have been dead for 1,000 of Kal-El's year by the time he watched it is something to do with the theory of relativity. I don't really understand the theory very well, but I do know that part of it is that, when something is moving at fast speeds (like, approaching the speed of light), the perception of time for the person moving at that speed slows down. So, Clark might have been in the space ship for two years, from his perspective, but it might have been 1,000 years from the perspective of someone either on Earth or on Krypton.

I haven't gotten to the part of Smallville yet where Lois shows up, so my opinion on this may change, but my favorite Lois is Teri Hatcher from Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman

I have seen this film so many times, but this version had a ton of scenes I have never seen before. I don't think they added much to the story though and it did feel like a verrrry long film.

How shallow, and incredibly ugly to dismiss/reduce Margot Kidder's brilliant (quite comic book accurate) performance of Lois Lane to ''I don't like her teeth, or the way she looks''.....'' Margot was a babe in the 60's/70s as well as a great actress. Further, à propos the ''weird teeth'' thing; ''glass houses'' and all that......
