I love Damon so much. He likes to pretend like he doesn't care about anything, but he's obviously grieving for Alaric more than everyone else put together. The way he keeps telling people they can't sit in Ric's seat at the Grill just breaks my heart, and that scene at the end, I think I've seen it more than a dozen times and every time I cry. Also, I just want to say that, IMO, the difference between "blood sharing" and what Michael used to do to other vampires is very similar to the difference between sex and rape. One more thing -- When Elena couldn't feed, Damon suggested it was Elena's doppelganger body rejecting the transition, and you questioned that because of Katherine. The difference is, Katherine never tried the bunny diet, and I think she was around for a few hundred years before blood bags were even a thing. When she was a new vampire, she always just drank human blood directly from the vein, so nothing about Katherine's existence negates Damon's theory that Elena's doppelganger body is rejecting the transition.

Agree with peggin169 about about your blood sharing question and also the doppleganger thing- though keep in mind, that's just a theory from Damon, they didn't really figure it out. Regardless, Elena successfully fed from Matt, so I guess she can keep it down from the vein (or maybe Matt blood is just extra delicious? No - impossible!)

2021-07-09 13:05:21 Also yes the end of the episode is such a happy-sad. It's like I'm crying but also just wanna go "aww!" and hug Damon lol. I think Damon and Caroline (like with compelling April) are definitely right, and to be fair I think deep down everyone knows it. But I do think Stefan is coming from a place of love even though I wanted to punch him throughout this episode lol. Stefan has essentially been an involuntary serial killer for 150 odd years with all the guilt that came with it, and I think he's terrified of Elena having to go through that essentially because of him (i.e. if he hadn't come into her life this never would have happened - though I would argue Klaus still would have come for her eventually). I also think that Elena was sort of like a talisman for him - proof of goodness and innocence in the world, and I think transitioning into seeing her as a vampire who wants to feed and hunt humans instinctively is hard for him to adjust to. Not that it makes it right, but I do feel bad for him! Wonderful reaction as always <3. I cried through the last scene the first time I watched it as well :)
