Ah fuck me. Right let’s get this over with they haven't dismissed the episode as being outright bad but David Tennant, Russell T Davies and Euros Lyn have all gone on record as admitting that the episode could have been a lot better, and was hurt by a lack of budget, rushed writing and filming schedules. This episode was originally scheduled for the 3rd season but a script by Stephen Fry called The 1920’s fell through and this one had to be rushed into fill the gap. This episode has no villain and no casualties (well… just us the audience) In 2009 Dr Who magazine held a poll to rank the first 200 episodes in order of preference and guess what?! Fear Her came in at 192 out of 200 making it the worst episode of the current revival (Nu-who) In another poll in 2014 Fear her came 240th out of 241 and in 2023 it came last as a David Tennant storied episode. In fact back in 2012 David Tennant was so popular there was a petition to have him carry the Olympic torch, However it was Matt smith who carried the Olympic torch on May 26th in Wales, DT was up for it after hearing about the petition but was never involved. Matthew Graham who wrote the episode and co-created Life on Mars, says about the episode it was made for adults not children, he also named his protagonist Sam Tyler, after Rose Tyler. It wouldn’t be a rollercoaster without the ups and the downs, this is another down and that’s fine. It’s like buses here in the UK you don’t see one for ages then two come along at once. Until next time.

This is another episode I always skip. Shame there are 2 horrible ones in a row, otherwise pretty great season so far.

This one was another episode that wasn't my favorite, better than the last one, but still not great. But I'm glad that you enjoyed it for the most part. Because when one of the comments said hopefully the next one's better, I was thinking, um, I'm not going to say anything, because expectation spoilers, but not really.

Ah, OK, awkward.. another shite ep. But hey, enough of that... a connection for you from two great shows you are reacting too... coming out on same day too: the lady who played the girl's mum in this episode starred in a TV show back in the early 2000's here in the UK, with Andrew Lincoln(Rick Grimes) called Teachers. It's a great show and I did not even know about Teachers until I watched Walking Dead first time as knowing Andrew Lincoln is British, I wanted to find something else he had starred n hence started watching Teachers. brill and funny series.

I'm going to break from the other commenters and not shit on the episode. It's not that bad. It's middling. If I had to choose between watching this episode or say, Buffy's "Teacher's Pet" or "I was Made for You," or "Empty Places" this would win hands down. It just feels kind of low-energy, but I think it's related in that way to the last episode, where it has the misfortune of being towards the end of the season, so the show maybe didn't have as much money as other episodes; maybe not as much time. Other shows do bottle or clip episodes, but this is arguably a better alternative than a clip show. Simple story, minimal effects, stock sets, no prosthetics. There's something about the Doctor's line when he says, "I was a dad once," it's such a simple line, that resonates with me - not as a parent, as I'm not one. I think it's a reminder of just how much he's lost. The First Doctor traveled with his granddaughter, so this wasn't a major revelation to most fans; and was a nice callback to classic Who and an affirmation of that history. Rose's response is good; he's clearly never talked about it before and she's understandably surprised. For the Doctor it's just a fact, that he maybe takes a little for granted. The idea of the Doctor as a dad though and all that goes with it is intriguing - the bedtime stories, the tantrums (the kid's, but... probably the occasional one by the Doctor too), schooling, the hugs, the talks, seeing them grow up, having at least one grandchild... and to know he lost all of that adds to the proverbial humanity of his character, but also the quiet tragedy he carries with him. It's hearts-breaking.

I'm not completely on the same boat as everyone else, I do enjoy this more than the previous episode. It's funny though this has a lower user rating than the previous by quite a margin .

Uh Oh, Shan was lonely as a kid and did drawings too. What if all the things she drew disappeared. All those missing penises.

I remember watching the opening ceremony to the 2012 Olympics live because I love in England. They had a lot of things happening in it such as celebrating British culture like the Industrial Revolution, Women's Suffage, British literature like Harry Potter, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, had Mr Bean perform in the Orchestra and even the bloody Queen parachuting into the stadium with James Bond (played by Daniel Craig at the time). But I didn't see the Doctor there or any doctor, so the ending of the episode is bs!
