Index of all recordings

Salvī sītis, Tribūnī! 🤠Hail to you, military tribunes! As patrons pledging $2 or more each month, you now have access to a new weekly series I have designed with you specifically in mind, to be released every Friday and called «Recitātiōnēs Pinguī Minervā». The phrase "pinguī Minervā" is a Latin idiom meaning literally "by means of a fat Minerva," the goddess of reason and inspiration, and means something like "in a less than perfect manner." This weekly series will feature recordings I have prepared for you that make great listening material while driving, doing chores, or while taking a walk.

While all my Latin recordings feature the best pronunciation and performance I can muster in the moment, in the interest of providing you as much material as possible, I will be editing the recordings of «Recitātiōnēs Pinguī Minervā» very little or none at all. Thus you will be hearing these recordings as if I were reading them just for you, as I do with my students in lessons, and you will be able to discern my spontaneous reactions and imperfections in the audio — hence "pinguī Minervā." ☺️

The first text we will treat in the «Recitātiōnēs Pinguī Minervā» series is the AMPHITRYO by Plautus, an exceedingly hilarious comedy written in the 2nd century BC.  The conversational, fluid, natural use of language is on full display here. I am reading from the Ørberg LLPSI edition, attached as a PDF below, so first I will recite the Praefātiō written by Ørberg, then the next week the Prologue where Mercury addresses the audience, and then all the scenes of the play in order.

Thank you very much for your support! If you like this material, tell your friends to become one of the Tribūnī patrons here on my Patreon page! 😃🦂
