Inside a cheap eBay roller limit switch.

I like the cheap industrial components that you can buy from China via eBay. I wouldn't risk using them in a safety critical situation, purely for the liability issue, but for personal projects and development they make a very affordable alternative to the big-brand versions.

The top switches on elevator shafts are called "finals," and there's a really good elevator hacking video done by some security experts that talks all about elevator mechanics and security: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUvGfuLlZus

When I was younger, I worked in a small 8 lane bowling alley that was attached to a restaurant. The pinsetters they had to - well - set the pins back up - was ancient and covered in dozens of switches like those.

I have used this for doors to indicate if open or not and, also to turn on lights when door open, in all from cold trucks to cold storage, and just normal doors and roller doors, not a easy to install as magnetic type but allow you to pass power directly for lights with no added electronics

Nothing like suspect UR approval mark, though it looks as if this switch might actually pass their process.
