Hello:

I just wanted to share a few small updates about the story/series.

First, everything's OK.

As I've alluded to in some of the recent RR posts, I'm working on wrapping up Book 2. I'm not sure if I shared this on Patreon, but the plan was for about 4 books in total (maybe five if I keep shaving the yak.) I do have an outline of sorts, and if I can keep characters on track, we might even get to the planned destination.

I'm also still working on syncing the two versions on Royal Road (and ScribbleHub and Tapas...). The relaunch hit Rising Stars earlier last month and is now off the Top 50 list (and I'm sort of happy about that since it was a bit of an anxiety-inducing distraction.)

Daily chapter posts will continue for the foreseeable future. That being said, I might get farther along with daily relaunch postings than what I have as final-edited chapters, but I think that may be okay (I'll still edit them before posting, so at the very least, formatting is consistent.) For example, the other heroes talking in Rae's head should use italics and quotation marks in the new version of the story. That, by the way, was a reminder to myself since I am very guilty of subconsciously switching back to bad old habits. Someday, I may even listen to myself about it.

You might have noticed I also changed my cover recently and yes, I admit it is an AI version for now. I received some feedback and advice, and after sitting down, getting over my stubbornness, and analyzing it, I'm going to see about using it as concept art for a real book cover creator who knows what they're actually doing (and not just newbie me playing with commissioned art inside Canva.) There are other (good) reasons for this as well which hopefully I can talk more about at a later time.

Since Book 2 will start (re-launching) in about two weeks, I'll switch back to the commissioned art depicting Tetora, Aleph, and Vernie (unless certain subject matter experts direct me otherwise).

I was hoping to finish the trial chapters this week, but due to circumstances that were beyond my control (but should have been anticipated under Murphy's law and its corollaries), I may not be able to finish the chapter(s) this weekend.

Therefore, I urge everyone (so I don't feel so guilty about not meeting my personal goal) to have a great weekend and touch grass if you can (or the proximal equivalent that promotes your very best brand of self-care).

Good to hear! It's always nice to see an author with an idea of where they want their story to end; it prevents endless churn/filler (especially when the focus is on characters or slice of life). Looking forward to the next books as well!
