I'm getting tired of this entire arc at this point. This is, what, the fifth chapter of them being trapped? It's clearly setting up some things for much later in the story, but for how much metaphorical screentime this arc is getting we're getting very little foreshadowing of latter events. The only things thar I can tell are of any significance that have happened are the discovery of the rats and the general idea of a pre-civilization of some sort. Definitely important things, but I feel this entire arc could have been half or less as long and we would have lost nothing.

It’s less an issue if there was a chapter every week. But when the author is juggling multiple stories it feels like takes way longer than it would otherwise. Because I’m real time this arc has been going on for months (if you include going to get the kid). It would feel less drawn out if we were to binge read it. Which is kind of what I am doing. I am waiting till the arc is over to binge it. Or 2 chapters at a time.
