I cannot say that I empathized with this chapter at all. Why did Dencifer try faking out Aizawa instead of winning? The answer seems to be for drama and plot. Perhaps we will see a better explanation in the next chapter. I, however, simply do not understand this type of self-sabotage.

I doubt he fooled Aizawa, it seemed more to be not broadcasting his talents to the studio audience. He is worried that with too much notoriety he will attract more threats than he can handle and this is the person that didn't pick going to the death world side of the multiverse and dosen't as of yet have a backdoor escape hatch to leave with the people he cares about should AfO/Overhaul/whatever other BS comes right at him due to his changes in the cannon. It should also be noted that at a fundamental level the character doesn't trust people, although this version is healing better due to having Mina bound w/o having to stamp her.
