Am I too cruel to my characters?

While writing this week's rant I asked this question and am curious what you think about that? Here is hoping that my answers can help express your feelings adequately enough.

I attempted to formulate the answers to this poll from 'less cruelty' to 'more cruelty' in descending order. Here is hoping that comes through.

Please choose the answer you like best! (With regards to my stories, not for how clever my Conan reference is. I will gladly accept Conan-related accolades in the comments or private chat. Alternatively, we can discuss the riddle of velvet on steel.)

Looks like roughly 60~70 percent feel the suffering is balanced well/not as big a deal in the shadow of expansion. 10% wouldn't mind a bit more suffering and 20% want a bit more leniency. I appreciate the input very much! Going to close the poll here. Thank you!
