Today I am pleased to share a bonus hi-res Monster with you!

Last month Artstation commissioned me to produce a full-length video demonstration for them featuring one of our monsters. (So this is only a bonus monster! September's actual monster and reward bag will be announced soon!) The course is in 2 parts and offers a basic overview of both my drawing and digital painting method.  It's for "Artstation Learning" which, if I understand correctly, is a Netflix-style service for artists; so if you pay for just a one month subscription, you can literally watch everything you'd like. It sounds really cool and I wish I had access to something like it when I was getting started.

Making the videos for them was fun, but incredibly time-consuming. (mostly because I am terrible at voice-over work) I had hoped that I might do this one and feel confident enough to offer full video demos as a new tier on Patreon....  but I think that might be a little ways off. Perhaps as a new goal for a higher monthly sub count?  For now, I'd like to still work towards first doing demos live for you guys once we hit the 1K mark! But who knows what the future may hold for us here...

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Galapogantis! If you'd be interested in checking out the demos, you can find the 2-part series here:

Great piece. Saw that Artstation started this learning-streaming feature. Seems really interesting. Combine that with the digital store (for digital tutorials, brush packs, etc) & print marketplace they offer to artists...been thinking about upping my presence on Artstation once I get my Patreon grounded.

I actually just signed up for your patreon after watching the art station tutorial. For what its worth i actually thought your voice over was really great! You were clear and concise and all of the information you discussed i found relavent and inspiring. I hate watching tutorials with people who clearly didnt script out what they were going to say and kind of just mumble through it to take up time. I thought it was was really well done which brought me here. Also, you totally inspired me to check out the dutch flemish painting technique which i previously hadnt looked into, and inspired me to try some new work flow approaches. Definitely understand that voice over tutorials can be a time consuming process but i wouldnt rule it out for the future when you have more time! Anyways love your work, looking forward to seeing some more monsters.

I highly recommend it! Artstation has been nothing but awesome for me. Essentially half of my freelance jobs from last year came directly from Artstation. And the Netflix-style-learning idea I think is excellent and is only going to get better as their catalogue grows. Very curious to see how they plan on working on the prints situation. They are making all the right moves right now.

Hey Nick, Welcome aboard! :D And secondly, thanks so much! Glad you like the demo. Video tutorials are a ton of work for me (especially with scripting like you mentioned), but it is something I am definitely considering more of in the future, so thanks for the feedback! Hearing that is really encouraging. Glad to have you here!
