Do you think the Stenza will be a recurring villain for this season?

JojoInSpace

I didn't expect them to come back, but now that they've been mentioned again I doubt that'll be the end of it. My theory is that whatever plot point that involvs them might have to do with all these "trophy"-people that they have captured/displayed somewhere, which they mentioned in the first episode. Maybe Team TARDIS try to rescue them?

Anonymous

I think they will, purely because Tim Shaw escaped in the 1st episode.

I think we might get another episode with them, but not have them being the big bad. Something for Graham and Ryan to fight possibly with The Doctor trying to talk them down. Stenza are an alright villain just abit boring, generic so far, did like the little layer added that they are constantly researching new mass ways to kill things made them abit more threatening.

It’s hard to say this moment in time whether or not they will be, but the way the scene was shot and scored it gave of that they will be an imposing threat and if they do come back then I’d expect them to be bigger and badder! This is highly likely to be a big plot point seen as we had the scene where the floaty paper creatures (forgot the name) saw into the deepest regions of the doctors mind and bought up “the Timeless child” which is new and seems like it will be mentioned regularly a bit like bad wolf in series 1, vote Saxon in series 3, missing planets in series 4 and the crack/ silence will fall series 5 etc. Keep up the great videos guys ☺️

chris z

did they react to the episode? cant see it on youtube as yet.

GarikLoran

What a fake out. I saw there was an email and thought the reaction was up.

Bryan Matola

I mean, they said we can say goodbye to overarching series plots and anyway the BBC shortened the episode count to 10 plus Christmas, so I don’t really think Whithouse has enough support behind him to be setting up any long games like Moffat. He should be focusing on telling the best damn story he can before the assholes turn on him.

The Doctor

Yeah that and the 'Timeless child, the outcast' will be plot points, though with Chibnall in charge there's no way of knowing if this is going to be like the tennant series arcs (Where everything was explained same series) or Smith series arcs (Where an arc covered several seasons)

Anonymous

if you have full length the reaction is up on the google drive

Anonymous

Chibnall has said that there wasn't going to be any arcs, but I'm pretty sure that was a lie. That being said, the Stenza namedrop could just be a red herring. That being said it's also been said Chibs had a five year plan for the show, so there must be some sort of an arc.

They went out of their way to say that some of the humans that they've hunted are still alive in stasis, so I think the Doctor will be visiting the Stenza planet eventually

Jeanette C

I feel like the writers didn't really need to name the alien race responsible for what happened to the planet so the fact that they did, and that it was the same aliens as last week, seems significant.

Considering these episodes are supposedly stand alones with no series arc, i dont think the villain will have a big plot point

Anonymous

I am almost 100% sure they'll be the main antagonists of the series. The fact that they were mentioned in this episode when they really didnt need to be makes it all the more likely. Also is it just me or does anyone else not like the new design of the tardis? The console is cool but the rest just looks tacky and unnecessary like they took the worst aspects of eccleston's/tennant's and smiths first tardis and mashed them together. Maybe i just prefer the simpler designs of classic who and capaldis tardis

Anonymous

I have to be honest, for me, I don’t think the police box walls being the start of the tardis interior is a good choice. It ruins the magic of it, and makes it seem like the tardis is beyond the box, not within the box itself. It no longer feels bigger on the inside and more just a pathway to the interior of the tardis itself. Only other complaint is that as much as I like the tardis look, it feels too small. I can’t imagine them turning to the left, going through a doorway and ending up in a swimming pool. Instead, it actually feels as if they are on a set.

Aaron, if you had to guess, who do you think Eric’s, Calvin’s and Shane’s favourite doctor will be? I’m guessing Shane = Smith, Eric = Capaldi and Calvin = Tennant. Wondered what your guess will be tho? (Also I’d say Smith is my favourite by a mile)

Thinking about it, they should have had Graham picked up in the last episode. Got Yaz in either this episode or the next one. And then Ryan in 4 or 5. So by the end of Episode 5, we have all the companions, but we get a bit of time with each of them to see them shine.

Anonymous

The show runner already came out and said there wouldn’t be an overarching plot

Ryan Witalison

I doubt we'll hear about them every week but for sure they will be the big bad that the Doctor and crew will defeat this season. She's not going to let those humans stay in hibernation or what ever and she's not going to stand by and let Genocide happen.

Is Doctor Who (6x3) gonna be late again this week?

Anonymous

They might be a reoccurring villain that the doctor will deal with repeatedly over the next season or 2 but I doubt they will be part of the "Timeless Child" mystery. Also I miss Murray Gold's soundtrack. Seriously, composers never get enough credit.

Anonymous

Are you sure it’s much of a mystery? It could just refer to the doctor before he was brought to the tempered schism, From Capaldi’s episode we gleaned that pre time lord the Doctor was a bit of a loner so it could have just been a deep cut and pissed her off

Anonymous

I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the last of the Stenza for a couple of reasons. One because the one from the 1st episode teleported out before he hit the ground, and two they have already mentioned them again in the second episode. Or it could just be a red herring...

Anonymous

I don’t think it’ll be a major plot point, but I do think we’ll see them again, like how the slitheen appeared twice in series 1, but I don’t think they’ll be as big as the Daleks or the Silence.

Tasker Thorn

Maybe its really Stanza and they'll attack the Doctor with rhyming couplets.

Scott Hadden Jnr

No, they won't because the showrunner said unlike previous seasons there is no recurring plot between the episodes, like Torchwood in Season 2 or the missing planets in Season 4. They're completely standalone.

Anonymous

I think the Chris Chibnall is gonna be bold and actually go for it and show the Doctor’s origins on screen. I think that’s what the Timeless Child speech was hinting at.

Anonymous

I'm gonna say no, because like others have mentioned, Chris said there wouldn't be an overarching plot this season, and I think he also mentioned no 2-parters as well.

Gezno

I feel like they're gonna try and make the Stenza the new Daleks.

Anonymous

The show focused on Stenza a bit too much for it to just be a name drop in my opinion, but I dunno if I can see Stenza being that big of a thing either. Also, a bit unrelated, but I find this new intro sequence very reminiscent of the first ever intro sequence or at least just the visual aspect. If you could find the time, I suggest checking it out and comparing the two https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjDFvoRNpOM

Second episode we discover the way the Stenza have dominated and terrorized other people and planets. From the first episode we know of two different instances that the Stenza have already made contact with earth with the intent to abduct and cause harm and kill humans. I doubt the Doctor has failed to notice. But she has been otherwise occupied with putting herself back together. The doctor now has her memories, the sonic and now the Tardis. Now we need to see what this Doctor is capable of. Then the Doctor deals with the Stenza.

StevenBrown

You should have had a third choice none. No plot points this season no story arks or they lied to us.

StevenBrown

I mean each of the episodes were to be a stand alone story. not a tease to a bigger plot.

I don’t believe in coincidences when watching Doctor Who. There a reason they have been a theme in both episodes. It will be interesting to have them as the big bad this season and now a series regular
