What are your thoughts on Ralph Dibney "The Elongated Man" this season? And why down in the comments!

Comments

Andrew Courtney

I like his character. Added some much needed levity to the series. We’ve had so many dark seasons the last two years. It’s nice to have some more humor around.

Anonymous

He just seems to have great chemistry with everyone and his story just seems to happen naturally and none of it feels forced and he adds some nice humor that goes with his character and never feels forced to me

Sam K

I like him because he's a breath of fresh air and I love to see the DC universe open up in these shows.

Roberto Cerrillo

I like him on the flash but by the end of the season I bet they'll put him on legends

Anonymous

I really liked his first episode. And then his next few episodes made me cringe. But I think he earned some respect when he gave joe that speech about planting evidence. And he definitely displayed excellent character growth this episode. So over all, I like him. And honestly expect him to get even better from here.

Anonymous

I like him...he gives comic relief

ObligedUniform

Good spice of flair to the show. And as annoying as he can be due to his ego, he is starting to come into his own as a hero.

Anonymous

He is Jim Carrey's illegitimate son. And gives the show some humor. He is good with Cisco and Harry.

Anonymous

He's alright. He's good in small doses is what I mean.

ItsKikiKeeks

I'm in the middle. Can't vote :(

Alex P

I like him cause he brings some levity to the show. Plus he's hilarious when he has to be.

The 16bit Couple

I absolutely love him! But I really think my love of the character from the comics may affect my view of him.

justin munn

He is the cheesiest/dumbest character I have ever seen... But i love him

Ian Vega

Ope, Eric done forgot to press the button again. Prepare for an earful from Aaron lol

Anonymous

I just love his moments of genuine sincerity. Sure he’s a bit over the top goofy, but I just see that as his way of trying to get rid of the pain he has felt living a full shitty life. I, too, use humor as a defense mechanism sometimes. So I totally get where he is coming from.

Ashgar77

He's great in small doses. Just some of the writing for him has been a little too stupid at times.

Derek H

Easily my favorite character this season. I love his humor and the fact that we have seen some genuine growth in his character so far. The actor also does a great job with his chemistry with the other characters, his comedic timing, and he’s fantastic in the serious moments. The first episode he’s in with the “I was a good detective..” speech gave me chills.

Anonymous

I think he's injected some needed comedy back in to the show

Anonymous

Very fun and goofy guy but also has a very serious side to him easily one of my favorite parts about flash but hopefully doesnt die everytime flash adds someone they either die or leave

Anonymous

I like him. Also a meta whos not a villain or badguy...seriously, the ratio of good to bad metas is not good...

Anonymous

Took my nickname.

Skeletor

He reminds you a bit of Jim Carry in the Mask but he by far is best parts of the Flash This season. Simply because an extra hero is needed with no Wally.

Tucker Lobner

Ralph has been one of my favorite parts of the season, I love his character development.

Anonymous

Most of the time I like him, every once in a while he does something that makes me hate him, but usually he'll meme up for it within the same episode

Kevin Bartelen

I like the character, but I REALLY like the actor, he just has so much charisma/personality. Every moment he's on screen, if he's having fun I am too.

Anonymous

I wish they'd call him Plastic Man. A five syllable name is just too long. Even three syllables is pushing it. Otherwise he's great

Anonymous

I love that FINALLY they brought in a non-villain meta who wasn't just another speedster, but I also love that they still made him somewhat of an asshole character to give him some growing room

Dawn Elicia Billings

His past behavior makes me not a fan how he was with woman and how he refers to them is just wrong. I wish we had Julian back.

Anonymous

I like him....but I feel like this would've been a good chance to have someone like Kid Flash or Vibe shine as a hero on the show

Anonymous

I don't like him.. I would like him but it's just that they are spending all this time on him and he most likely won't be an actual part of the show and be shot in the background like Wally west or Caitlyn and Cisco.. people with powers but you don't even see them do anything that much.

Anonymous

So I do like him.. but because it's obvious what they will do with him.. I don't get my hopes high or anything on him

I Am Groot

I like him when he's serious and not comedic relief. Like when he talked Joe out of framing Marlize a couple episode ago.

Rantingisalwaysfun

I'm going with a neutral stance, but leaning towards not liking at the moment. I hate how they introduced him as some sexist, scummy guy who objectifies women and acts like a total dick. I get it's to make him seem unlikable first, but then you grow to like him, which is why his personality is completely different than the first few episodes he was in, but I feel they could have done it way better. Julian was also supposed to be a growth character, but he was done better IMO because they showed even when he was acting like a dick, he had integrity. Ralph was written to be just as annoying as possible. But I'm open minded, and I liked his character this episode. If they completely put a stop to the sexist comments and such, and have him grow as just a person in general, I think I'll like him by the end of the season

Jude Miller

His chemistry instantly worked with the rest of the team's, I like him.

Anonymous

I love him I just think he came in at the wrong time because of all this Andrew kreisberg, Ralph got side lined a little while they sorted out all the sexual allegations

Anonymous

I like Ralph as Ralph, not soooo much as hero. especially this episode with the trixter. quip against quip. punchline vs punchline. overdone. i liked the scenes with barry in prison and almost couldn‘t care less for the rest of what was happening.

Anonymous

I love Ralph more and more, I almost like him better than Barry, But not more than Caitlin. Cait/KF is Bae!❄️❄️😍

Billy THE KID Lawrence

Ralph is my new favorite Arrowverse character. He's got that creepy douche vibe going at first, but then you realize he's got a big heart and means well. He just let his failures get the best of him at first. He's totally redeeming himself though. I absolutely love that he's like the love-child of Jim Carrey and Bruce Campbell and has those qualities while still being his own man. "Groovy." His hilarious qualities and him just putting a big smile on my face is awesome when he's on screen. I think he's hilarious, has cool powers, and deserved his big moment to be a hero. I love the guy just like I love you guys. Not that I thought you were creepy douches at first or anything....I'll shut up now. <3

StevenBrown

I think he's a great addition to the team.

Flashback007

I love Ralph, he fits great with the team and although he clearly is there more for the comic relief then for the serious stuff, he can also handle that serious stuff. Also I recently rewatched the 1st season of The Flash, before Flashpoint Ralph Dibny actually died because of the particle accelerator, so that actually adds a bit of more love for the character for me

Username

I choose both.

Anonymous

He is a great side character, offering comic relief even in an episode with the serious stuff going in the prison with barry. Plus I loved the speech Barry gave him in the prison.

Jonathan Tavira-Alcaraz

A lot of the smaller hero’s need the love in DC also he’s funny.

Dylan Carpenter

I like him. Unlike some other comedic heroes in the arrow verse (Curtis) it feels like Ralph is always the right balance of funny and serious as the scene he’s in requires. Plus I’ve enjoyed his progression from sleazy private eye to a hero.

Anonymous

I like him but, hes got to tone down the Jim Carey over acting he does sometimes...

Lonahora

Recently like him more than Barry. Also, last episode made me wonder why DeVoe chose to include him in his plans for Barry's return and making meta-humans?

Anonymous

I originally thought he would be a one off character and thought he was bad. Be he has grown on me. He has many of the same flaws that Barry went through in the first season where he felt invincible and was in it for the fun. But then it gets serious and he realized that he needs to take this more serious himself.

Anonymous

I didn't really like him at first, but then I grew to like the guy. Still kind of annoying ever now and then, but I usually laugh at least once when he is in the spotlight.

Anonymous

love Ralph but at first he was annoying but now its like having a super powered jim carrey

Doby Greg

i think it is interesting to see such a flawed individual become a superhero whereas Barry, Oliver,Kara were already heroic when they put their mask. Also I'm thinking Devoe put Barry on that prison&cell so that he as good experience as he can while being away. He learns more about is father but can't stop their plan. He doesn't want the flash to suffer just keep him away.

Anonymous

I like the actor but he hasn't been given good material

Anonymous

im very undecided but i feel like im leaning towards not liking him because he annoys me more than makes me laugh

Jeff Knapp

I like him I hope they use his detective skills more in the comics he is supposed to be almost as good as Batman. Side note Goldberg was a prisoner in longest yard and he was the hammer the guard you were confusing him with was Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Joel S

He reminds me more of Alan Tudyk from Firefly (which i don't think either of you have seen.) I've liked him since his first appearance, though i can see why some people don't.

Talmet

Wait...Blindwave haven't seen Firefly?????? All qualifications they might have had for judging sci-fi/fantasy are revoked.

Eric Solo

I like him but I could do without him being focused on. This is the perfect time to use Wally, and then when Barry comes back Wally could still join the Legends

Anonymous

I like him but at times he does get on my nerves a bit but he’s fine overall

Seany McBuckets

I voted for both. This season is having trouble balancing humor and serious moments. That was evident in this last episode and kind of describes Ralph in a nutshell

Jules Eris

I enjoy the character a lot. Also the actor does a great job. Probably my favorite new addition this season.

Jak O'Hara

I love his character so so much but seriously why has nobody picked up on the fact that he a time remnant of a young Jim Carrey???

Anonymous

I like him he is very much like the mask. Also it's fun and interesting to learn the new power set. Plus it's nice to have someone more morale questionable like he's not as hero like as Barry.

Anonymous

I love me some Jim Carrey and he looks and do some weird faces like him, but there are also touching scenes, like the one when Joel wanted to plant evidences. BUT, I wish they wouldn't kind of throw Wally away and put him instead.

Blackest Hippy

Definitely like him, he's too funny to hate

Anonymous

Like you guys said, he can sometime get a little annoying but I believe it’s on purpose and is the good type of annoying. He’s also a fun and interesting new character and I can’t wait to see what else the show writers will do with his power

Callie Stephen

I like him. He is a lot of fun yet when Joe needed him to be serious and offer good advice before planting evidence he did. He also put himself between the acid and the team despite being terrified so that counts for a lot as far as I am concerned.

Anonymous

Honestly, I don't know if I like him or not. I couldn't stand him at first because of his ego and how he treated others, but I like seeing his development and can appreciate what he brings to the show.

Anonymous

I think he is one of the best characters we got in a long time! He has a lot of layers and has been a blast to watch him with the team!

Anonymous

I dislike him. I deserve more screen time. It should be all about me! The flash! The fastest man alive!

Andrew Garcia

Found him a bit annoying this episode although I usually like him. I wanted more Goldberg and Barry lol

Anonymous

I like the character but just wish it wasn't subverting the main storyline so much. I felt that way about HR early on too, so that may change. I'm a little miffed with the way most of the other characters are written atm (Cisco, Caitlin) but I feel like it'll start picking up soon.

Darth Skhorrn

I love characters who rise above their flaws instead of being good right off the bat. Ralph is a great example of a scumbag with a heart of gold. Plus he makes Jurassic Park references. You can't hate that.

Jamie Smith

I like him because In the space of a few episodes he’s been in, he’s had a lot of character development and showed different ways to use his powers. Reminds me a lot of Jim carry. I think that he might not be able to stay on flash forever but I would like if he did but if he can’t maybe he could get his own show

Anonymous

I like him for being different he is new to the show and different from his comic book counterpart

Anonymous

I like him but I dont like when they spend so much time characterizing...characters that'll be gone next season. I need more Vibe/Killer Frost superhero/villain action.

Anonymous

I love the comedy this season, they are hitting a good balance with more serious stuff, Ralph is a biiiiiig part off that, love how he fits in the team, they did a very good job with him!!!

Boomchicawawa Bay

His humor and edginess I think gives the show some different dynamics as far as story telling, that they really couldn't do without a character like his.

Anonymous

I like him, but I honestly don't know what he brings to the table that other people can't fill. I mean Cisco and Killer frost could easily do Ralph's job and probably be better at it, Jpe is a good detective and harry/cisco help him out sometimes. So Ralph to me isn't needed at all, they have a tendency to kill off new character or meaningless characters like the detective that Irish was dating before Barry sure he was related to the reverse flash, but that didn't help at all he basically died for no reason. Then we have Harry 3.0 who wasn't as smart as everyone there and provided a scapegoat for Irish. This post is longer then I expected it to be but I just hope they don't kill Ralph to be a scapegoat so they don't have to kill any of the main cast not that I want them to kill anyone but they don't take risks anymore.
