Two Recommendations (Patreon)

Last night I happened to watch two of the best things I know that I'll see all year.

They are...

EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL AT ONCE

Please see it if you have a chance. It is just the MOST movie in all the best possible way. I'm an enormous fan of DANIELS. I thought SWISS ARMY MAN was the best film of that year. Nobody mixes the uncanny, the bizarre, the funny, and the profane with as much heart and passion as they do. They are essential voices. And it's weird to say "I KNEW Michelle Yeoh would be incredible in this," because she's basically already a hero of mine, but she is and that's she gets to show exactly why. But then there's Ke Huy Quan (from Goonies, Temple of Doom, etc). An actor I adored in my youth and always missed. The fact that they brought him back for this I thought was like this victory in and of itself. What I didn't realize is he would deliver one of my favorite performances... like... ever??? He gets to have such incredible range and humor and emotion and so much more (I don't want to spoil).  But really all five main cast members get to show off that kind of range. Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, and the great James Hong. All incredible. It's this weird thing that can't help but make me ask: "is every other movie wasting every actor!?!?!?" It's an absurd question, that suddenly somehow feels true.

ROTHANIEL

I came home from the the movie I was antsy, no one was around to talk about it. And I was looking for a distraction and saw people saying "Rothaniel. mute the keywords, just watch it." Those are the magic words fo rme. I always listen when people tell me to do the same. To find it, it's a Jerrod Carmichael special on HBO Max. There's a million things I want to talk about with it  (and probably will soon), but it hits HARD. So do the same. Mute all the keywords. It's weird saying "spoilers" are associated, twitter's already treating it like news. It's just the way the show is constructed is better if you just watch it knowing nothing. So please go watch it.
