I was browsing through some old art the other night and came across this chart I made. The original template can be found [here]

Old art can feel cringey, humbling and inspiring all at once. I feel like such a nerd but I do remember having a fun time creating all this stuff. And seeing all my art side by side I can definitely see how much I’ve improved. Also I drew nearly every day so that’s a habit I’d like to get back into again!

I actually finished a continuation of this chart starting from 2010 up to 2018 so I’ll be uploading that shortly after this.

For now here was the old summary I had when I first posted this chart!

--------------------------------------------------------

2003
Personally considered my last year in my DBZ phase though I kept saying I would never lose that love for it (I never did just ended up branching out which is good). It was 2002 when Geist was created but this year I was determined to draw horses better. I know some artists seem to look down upon the Spirit style, but I really enjoy it as it became a great boost on how to draw animated horses, perhaps in the future I will work on adding more realism to them.

2004
This was the year I was introduced to Naruto and after catching up on all the chapters there were I began creating new fc’s for this fandom. Kogoro was created first, followed by Kiru and Nomi (Fun Fact: Kogoro and Kiru were created on leap year). My style was very “chubby” looking, being new to the Naruto style and so used to drawing DBZ so I think for a while there was like a mash between the two

2005
Still into Naruto and as the little description said also dabbling into other fandoms. I was introduced to Bleach and was interested at first but then over time I drew fanart mostly to impress my friends back then. This year characters like Chomari (Chouji/Temari child) and Keiji were created. On the side I drew DBZ related stuff for mine and Dan’s projects but never uploaded them anywhere cept photobucket or shared personally.

2006
2006 was my big Ice Age phase. I had been in a short phase during 2003 but it went away (2003 was the year Adah was created) and after Ice Age: The Meltdown came out I was all inspired to re-work her story and created new characters. With the help of Daniel Yarbrough and Shannon Collins I wrote “Ice Age: The Threequel” which is the biggest thing I’ve ever written and actually finished. I used to draw a lot of animals when I was a kid so getting back to animal based art was pretty fun but this time around got to work on adding more details. I also tried to develop a new drawing style that I started using for my Ice Age humans.

2007
My Transformers year! Which is coincidentally the year the first Transformers movie came out, how about that! XD It was a lot of fun taking a trip down memory lane with the robots in disguise, and learning how to draw mecha stuff. Something I’m not very good at but it was cool to try regardless. Made up my own movie style based off various artists though my jaw often drops when I see Transformers artists put so much amazing detail in their pieces, I personally wouldn’t even know where to begin!

2008
This year was heavily focused on Final Fantasy XII but later on I started fanning out on trying to improve old works. Scarlet Saiyaness got a new design, and for fun tried to revise the picture “Overcoming your fears” I feel this year wasn’t very productive; there were drawings here and there but with the family drama that had begun the desire to upload to DA diminished. The style I had used back in 2006 was used often for my Final Fantasy characters and non-anime characters then on but you can still see anime influence in it of course.

2009
My “mish mash” year! One month it was Ice Age, then Naruto, then DBZ and so on. What was so nice was all these interests gave me a wide range to play with, not to mention settings to RP with my friends. I would say I feel like I haven’t improved, mostly because I constantly have to look at my art XD so its like nothing has changed, that is till you look at pieces side by side. It’s safe to say there has been improvement which I’m glad for.
