I think most of it is the money. Splitting a haul 6 ways as opposed to 8 ways will get each member over 30% more, plus the equipment they could loot off the bodies. But also, they might just enjoy the power trip, as well.

To explain: when he is increasing his perception stat, he increases his ability to sense an opponent's strength as well as his ability to feel and perceive mana/magic power, but when his intelligence stat is increased, he increases the amount of mana/magic power that he personally has and could potentially use. I hope that makes sense!!

Ngl I love a little guilty pleasure power fantasy, like the new attention he's getting, it's very real if we're being honest lmao. And I totally get him hiding his ability for the time being, I think it fits perfectly, but I hope he gets the recognition he deserves eventually. If the haul was $24, each member of the 8-squad would get $3 and each of the 6-squad would get $4–a 33% jump. If it was $24m, it would be a difference of $3m and $4m. Shady people would do a lot for that extra mil.

I think the reason the party does what they do is that, they know they can't get stronger than C rank, so they're stuck doing C rank dungeons forever. So to increase their money per dungeon, they devised this scheme to make dungeon splits only between them 6 instead of 8, so every dungeon they get a bigger cut.

I just don't understand how their scheme is sustainable. Even if there's plausible deniability about how the 2 extra guys died in each individual dungeon, stack up enough of those and... people would notice, right? Like word would get around that no one should ever go with this crew because anyone who does dies. Maybe they run a lot of missions in between where they don't kill the extra 2 and they only run this scam occasionally, that's the only way I can see it being even remotely workable and even then I feel like people would take notice and they'd get investigated.

what are you gonna investigate? the dungeon's close and typically people that get killed in this manner are pretty weak to begin with. People don't have the time or resources to be worrying about hunters that sign no liability forms and don't belong to a guild. Its like war sure some people are held accountable for war crimes but imagine all the ones that we never hear about
