I goofed and accidentally didnt unpause the mic for episode 21 I think is what it was so we had to use backup audio for that one but it returns to normal after that episode!

This is a reminder that Naruto has tons of goated moments but its filler count is way higher than any of the shows uve watched so far. I suggest for the next binge you guys stick to a no filler guide cause its gonna start coming up pretty soon if i remember. The worst for old anime is when you're trying to get to peak and the filler leaves a bad taste in your mouth cause you forgot to watch around it.

@Sam Hard disagree there. I’m no dub hater, but Naruto dub is very difficult to listen to, for me at least. Except for Gaara—his dub is great.

YESS rock lee and might guy 🤣 i prefer sub but honestly i think Naruto dub hits better with the funny moments and just the way they talk. Like shikamaru saying bothersome isn’t as good as what a drag but that’s just me

i agree, even during the commentary when he was introducing the 9 rookies, the dub version is way funnier because he pretty much says how annoying they all are despite some of them not even being annoying, the sub doesn't hit all the time tbh

hard disagree, the sub just kind of takes away some iconic lines like Shikamaru's "what a drag" line and the funny commentary that naruto usually has. Also the way Sasuke and Sakura sound in dub is better tbh. I really enjoy the way Sasuke articulates certain things in dub rather than sub.

it stays iconic in Japanese... I just re-read the comments now and I'm realizing that you guys probably feel that way because the first time you watched Naruto, shxt was dubbed. I always watch stuff in its original language so the intonations and meaning of certain phrases lose their meaning when translated in English. It simply doesn't have the same heart.

There are some iconic dubs out there, like FMAB and Cowboy Bebop, and there are some comedies that use slang better in dub, like Prison School. Naruto, though, that’s 100% just nostalgia talking.

nostalgia is a factor sure, but ive watched both sub an dub for years and I feel more at ease with the dub by far, the villain dub actors are just superior, and iconic lines like Shikamaru's "What a drag" does not hit the same in Japanese and its also translated differently. There's just certain things that should be watched in dub tbh, I really do think there's a reason as to why Naruto's dub acting is considered one of the best in the anime world.

its in almost every video and usually they gain a lot of likes, lately, there's been a lot more comments requesting dub though since the sub isn't hitting and some of the funny scenes arent funny because they don't bring the same energy as the dub

Yeah I noticed after you replied to me. Also you probably only feel that way because either the Japanese language doesn’t resonate with you as well or you grew up watching Naruto in dub. As far as I’m concerned, nothing beats the original intended language . The heart they pour into it is just different. Japanese VA are seriously gifted in their craft. I really hope they don’t switch, I watch nothing in dub. If they don’t mind it and vote goes that way, that’ll just be too bad I guess. I at least have HxH to fall back to.

problem is not with the voice actors necessarily ( I watch almost everything in sub) its mostly the script for the sub especially in og naruto and how well the voices match the intended personality of the character, for a bunch of genin 12 year olds a lot of the voices sound to mature, jokes aren't executed as well and ultimately when you comapre a lot of scenes especially emotional ones, I think most times the dub is significantly better. Only watched Naruto a couple of years ago aswell so it's not necessarily nostalgia for me

Then it’s simply a matter of taste (at least where you’re concerned, because I’m willing to bet that a lot of dub lovers are speaking through nostalgia and not realizing it). As far as I’m concerned, both the emotional moments and villains voice are superior in sub. “Almighty push” VS “shrina tensei” and Pain’s speech regarding the cycle of hatred; the cadence of his delivery is simply not comparable to me. The signature quotes/words that characters like Shikamaru and Naruto are in fact iconic in Japanese. Anyway, we’ll see if they poll it at all.

McKay is one of the hardest subbers around. He is just barely warming up to the FMAB dub, 30 episodes in, and that is one of the best dubs we have. No way would he budge on his favorite anime.

Regardless of all the sub vs dub chat, I have to say the one character whose voice I miss in dub is Rock Lee! I have a master’s degree in Japanese so I understand the sub voices and intonations better than some viewers, but the way the English dub VA voices Rock Lee is just SO good for the character. He always cracks me up 🤣
