One of my favorites moments of the royal guard is when Meruem asks them what his name is. In only a few minutes, their responses perfectly encapsulate their characters and subtly foreshadow their development. Pitou says she thinks how the king feels is what's important, and he should choose his own name, showing that she prioritizes emotions and revealing the empathy within her loyalty ; Youpi responds that he believes he doesn't have the capacity to answer the question, showing that he only does what he feels he should, and thus revealing his hidden dedication to duty ; and finally Pouf responds that Meruem's name is King, and that the name is who he is and what his destiny is, betraying the truth that his loyalty is not to Meruem, but to his idea of what Meruem should be.

The hunter association wouldn't want to throw in their strongest hunters for them to be at risk of getting eaten (or worse, controlled by Pitou). Which is why they chose hunters who were a good fit in certain aspects. And then Gon and Killua.. Not really sure why they let them tag along besides them being likeable.

@Cannon one of the real reasons of not bringing more hunters here has not been revealed yet. The hunter team does what the Chairman asked and tries their best for the mision. They don’t even know Zeno here. Let’s trust the Chairman, he knows what he is doing. As Zeno said, Netero has lived a long live for a reason.

Finally Netero shows up after the longest 3 episodes of yappin about preparing an attack in anime history. This show can really stretch every scene with how much yappin is going on about every little inconsequential detail... then we get one fist attack from Netero and Pitou just holds onto her tail that should have been split in half from all that force that was applied but who cares about physics LOL... I cant wait to see her suffer. I really like the scenes between the king and the girl, but the plan of attack and the invasion itself could have been cut by 20 episodes and I wouldnt miss any of it.

they cant change since it's the backup sound, meaning it wasn't their intention at all since the main sound stopped a little bit but it fixes after that episode anyways so it aint that big of a deal. The only thing they should reupload is syncing the 2nd episode a little better.

Yes, but the real reason is that hunters are spread throughout the world and are busy doing there own stuff. The strong hunters are 1% from the rest of the world, 5% are the average hunters, and the 96% are regular humans, creatures, etc. (also, there are people who are strong without a hunters license). So there are less strong hunters, this will be revealed on later episodes..

Nah, the actual amount of hunters is WAY less than 1% of the population, less than even 1% of the 1%. Take into account that there are less than 700 official pro hunters, but lets round it up to 700; let's say also there's about the same amount of people that are about as strong/skilled as pro hunters but don't have a license and maybe don't really work as hunters; then, let's say the amount of amateur hunters is about 10 times the amount of pro hunters. So, adding them up you get about 7700 people (of course it's just an estimate based on especulation, but I don't think the real number is much higher or much lower than that), so assuming their world has about as many people as ours, you can realize how few hunters are there in the grand scheme of things. . . (BTW, just to tease you a little, if 96% of the hxh world is regular people, 5% average hunters and 1% strong hunters, then wouldn't that add up to 102% lol?)

Well, in Hunter x Hunter, the X is silent btw. It's literally "hunter hunter" because, well, Gon is a hunter and he is hunting his dad, who is a hunter himself, hence Gon is a "hunter hunter". Yeah, the explanation was that simple and obvious yet 99% of viewers (me included untill relatively recently) never even thought about it lol.

Zeno's grandpa is Maha Zoldyck. He actually appears both in the manga and in the 99 anime version during the Yorknew Arc, but only for a couple of shots and with no dialogue (he is sent to kill the 10 dons alongside Kalluto and Illumi). He looks very small and short, probably due to old age. Fun fact about him, he is the only confirmed enhancer in the Zoldyck family as far as we know.

For the 10 days before the palace invasion part, Togashi said in an interview with Jump Ryu (vol.21) that it was because he enjoyed depicting characters being placed in extreme situations taking different courses of action when they encounter someone unexpectedly. He prepared a timeline for each character ’s actions. When he created this part, the work was so much fun that he forgot to eat and sleep.

The way the three Royal Guards responded to the King’s question about his name gave us some insight as to how they view him, and how their loyalties differ. Pouf only sees him as the King and is loyal to an ideal image of him. Anything that disrupts that has to be eliminated. Pitou actually cares about him as an individual, and looks out for his best interests. Youpi doesn’t think too deeply about what’s best for King nor what the King wants. The King’s word is absolute and he follows orders without question — like the perfect soldier. Excited for the upcoming episodes!

She simply had a body resilient enough to withstand that force, why is it unrealistic in the context of the story? Some cool little details: 1. Meruem scares off the eagle that ends up attacking Komugi. But also there’s an eagle that gets scared off by Netero when he was meditating, that may or may not have been the same eagle. 2. The plan to isolate the King is similar to the Gungi game where Meruem’s king piece gets isolated against Komugi

That is a cool explanation, but it wasn't actually the authors intent. Togashi has a page in chapter 45 of HxH that explains the origins. It says he always wanted to do a manga titled "(something) Hunter", and then he was watching a comedy show with a joke about repeating yourself and that gave him the idea to just put Hunter twice, thus Hunter x hunter. However, I do still give merit to the idea of happy artistic coincidences like this.

By the way, I see a lot of people answering to Cannon's question about the reason they don't send more Hunters, and while y'all are partially right about the fact that blindly sending inadequate agents would make things much worse since it would reinforce the King's strength, some of you are forgetting that the Hunter Association REFUSED to send reinforcement when Morel asked for some specific hunters to come and join the fight. It happened in episode 99, I really suggest y'all rewatch it because it gives a lot of insights on the politics within the Hunter Association and it builds the ground for a looot of future potential conflicts that happen later in the story (most of it in the manga). Just dropping this since I've seen quite a few comments not giving full answers haha

It's not like my comment is forcing them to do anything and even if it was accepted it's not a guarantee they will actually watch the show. It was an ask for a chance to be able to vote for it is all. I actually agree that the amount of fan service within the show is unnecessary and annoying but I also enjoy the show for the plot and action scenes which I feel like they'd enjoy. Some great character development is also shown as each child grows into the heroes they want to become.

The first episode with the king asking the guards for his name highlights the guards personality so much. Pouf provides an answer which he believes the king should be, pitou provides an answer which he believes the king would want, and youpi doesn't even answer lol

The whole way they represent his ant vs human internal struggle is so good. And it's so believable in the context of the story. Meruem is basically a baby; sure, a baby that was born extremely smart and with the ability to speak, but a baby nonetheless. He knows nothing of the world and human emotions, and he is experiencing through Komugi what it's like to be a human, all at the same time that he has to perform a duty to his species.
