I've always liked this movie. I may be one of the few who does really like it for what it is. I would disagree with the writing out the romantic part, and I'm not even fond of romantic elements in movies. But I think having the romantic connection gives a more emotional connection to the characters. I would agree Nick shouldn't get back with her, but I also wouldn't write out the romantic connection as it would make her betrayal less effective, and a bit to on the nose. I felt she had a decent arch with her initial trying to make it as a big reporter motive and then comimg around to being the one that gave him the credit of proving his nesting theory. Animal was one of my favorite characters. As far as lore goes, I mean what else could there be? We know how it came to be. They explained it with the opening testing, Nick also provided some additional insite about how this creature came to be. Nuclear radiation mutated an iguana into a kaiju sized creature that is also born pregnant and could easily replace humans as the dominant species of the planet if allowed to continue living. What more explination could there possibly be? While I would agree I would hate for him to half to be killed, the reality is, there would be no way to contain this species anywhere. If they're compelled to travel this distance to lay eggs, they are going to get out of where ever they were relocated and once the young are grown and start reproducing the population will grow exponentially. The only real gripe I had with the film actually was not doing a thorough check of the garden after the adult was taken care of to ensure there are no more eggs. Nick with his science background should have considerred that animals that lay lots of eggs do so for a reason. It ensures that no matter what at least one or a few will make it. I anticipated this ending before they even went back to the garden at the end. Fun reaction though. I hadn't seen this in a while and was a fun watch.

I recently watched Godzilla Minus One in the cinema and it was a very good movie. It was reminiscent of the first Godzilla movie. In this recent movie it's very much about the human element. The original (Japanese) Godzilla was in part dealing with the aftermath of the nuclear bombing by the USA. Nowadays most Godzilla movies from the USA are just special effects spectacles without any soul or good writing. But Godzilla Minus One brings it back to the strengths of the original. Highly recommended.

Those NYC sewers are Ginormous . Ohhh how I despise this flick as a Godzilla flick. One instance that bugged me was Godzilla running from the military and the bridge scene. SMH
