May 2022 Rewards - My Melody & Kuromi (Patreon)

This month's set is My Melody & Kuromi!:

Aaaaaaaa.......... as I mentioned late last month, I'm kinda disappointed how this set came out :((((

I was so so excited to draw them, but I am not really happy with how the illustration turned out. For starters, I was travelling a lot during the month of April, so I didn't get good quality time to focus on painting. Additionally, I reaaaaaally wanted to try out my Windsor & Newton watercolours on this one, so I went ahead and did. I did the skin, Kuromi's sweater + skirt in W&N watercolours, and then I quit. They just do not behave the same way as liquid watercolours (Dr Ph Martin), which is what I usually use. I knew if I continued on using the W&N, I would be even more disappointed with the outcome...

Basically, it came out way too dark; darker than I intended. The lineart for one I was really pleased with, but it was thick thick lines. So it didn't do well with light cololurs (you couldn't see any of the line details because it was all hidden by dark colours).

Anyway, that's just my thoughts! I wish I had time to redo it, I think I would've went ahead with a more classic shoujo style like my Nana painting ;_; Regret!!! If I get to redraw them someday, I'd love to do that................

I'm pleased with the stickers and washi though, lol! I'm a sucker for pastel gingham!!
