Well, folks, the weekend is finally here: Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two hits screens everywhere and it's looking like it's going to be the kick in the ass the U.S. box office has sorely needed!

As it is the first big box office event of the year (sorry to all the Beekeeper obsessives out there), it's looking to make a good bit of scratch this coming weekend. Thursday numbers reported are already showing the film grossed around $12 million and its advanced ticket sales have blown past Dune: Part One's by almost 116%, so I think it's safe to say this film is not in any danger of terribly under-performing. All that in mind, just how big is this movie going to be?

Current projections are showing an opening weekend somewhere in the range of $71M-$86M, so what do you think? How will the next chapter in the fight for the soul of Arrakis do this weekend? Vote below and happy Dune-ing! - Andrew

How many people do you think, while drenching their popcorn in butter, were saying: “The Spice must flow!”?

It just barely beat the $82 million. My friend that runs a theater said her standard showings were empty but the premium showings were sold out.
