On this month's Animation Damnation, the guys are re-capping an episode of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon, Rugrats

The episode in question, "Angelica's Worst Nightmare/The Mega Diaper Babies," first hit the air back on March 13, 1994 and has one kinda fine segment and one that's definitely meant for children only! The "Angelica's Worst Nightmare" segment features the eldest Rugrat whining about possibly getting a sibling and having a completely terrifying nightmare about it at one point, while the rest of the Rugrats are barely seen or heard in this one. Then in the "Mega Diaper Babies" segment, it's Rugrats-a-plenty as the kids pretend to be superheroes who are fighting an evil Angelica robot to get their toys back! Hey, yup, it's for little kids! 🤷‍♂️

When you announced on monday that you guys watched Rugrats (my FAVORITE childhood show) my heart stopped. Knowing there was a good chance you'd pick this one. This one gave ME nightmares as a child who adored this show. I had it on VHS at one point and would fastforward to avoid it. The trauma that is about to flood back from hitting play on this... oh boy. Wish me luck. and I'm so so sorry you boys went through this one.

If the people who requested this are in the 28-33 year old range (as I am) the nightmare sequence had an impact. We were the baby audience the second half was designed for, and as such the energy and Klasky-Csupo-ness of the dream part was quite frightening. It's one my sister and I reference frequently as a thing in media that really unsettled us, and I doubt we're alone. As an adult, I appreciate them going there and trying different tonal and artistic things, and it does make sense to me why people would ask you to do it. Hell, I was excited when I saw it drop for all the reasons above! Loved this and thanks for it

This episode scared the hell out of me

My fave rugrats ep was when they had the box and did different things using their imagination. The gang is also correct that CGI reboot is fucking nightmare fuel

I remember watching this particular episode as a kid when I was delirious with a fever with chicken pox and distinctly recall being terrified of the part where Chuckie imagines he gets eaten by a giant space planet monster.

As soon as this episode started I had the theme stuck in my head on repeat. Then when Andrew said the Doug theme was stomping on the Rugrats theme, I realized that was actually the song I had in my head, so don't worry, Andrew, you're not alone

Rugrats was a Jewish show. Abortion is fine in Judaism. Angelica's mom had an abortion.

Was there an episode where that happened? Because on this ep, she's just not pregnant it turned out. Whatever home test she used was bogus. - Andrew

Nothing to do with Rugrats and all , but i just watched the new Scream from this year and there was a poster for We Hate Movies in one of the scenes during the opener PS The show has done more for me than you guys could imagine, please keep up the great work
