It's our monthly trip into the world of TREK, and this episode is a double-dose of Romulan-related stories!

First up on TOS, it's the wild-ass episode, "The Enterprise Incident," which originally aired back on September 27, 1968. This ep has it all: Kirk going totally insane (or so we think), Spock getting all sexy with a Romulan Commander, and Scottie really, really, really wanting to blow up the ship.

Then over on TNG, it's another Romulan-centric tale with "The Defector." Originally airing January 1, 1990, this episode has Picard directing Data through some Henry V monologue, Worf getting a real craving to kill the titular defector, and even some bad-ass spaceship maneuvering, complete with a bunch of starships facing off with one another, ready to go to Hell tonight!

The Nexus is a WHM podcast where the guys futilely go through two Star Trek series at the same time. Thank you so much for continuing to support this weird thing we do—we couldn't do it without you!

I love it when the Nexus has similar themes in both episodes. It's delightfully odd how often it happens too.

Great accidental combo of episodes

The Romulans feature heavily in DS9 during the Dominion War. There is some really great stuff in there. How Sisko gets the Romulans to join the war on the side of the Federation is one of my all time favourite ST episodes, a huge moral quandary. Andreas Katsulis played G'Kar, one of the main characters in Babylon 5 and was utterly fantastic in it.

Romulans being space Romans, it just doesn't make sense to me why some gleep glops would base their entire culture around an ancient Earth empire.

Daniel Stewart plays Picard’s son in one of the best TNG episodes ever, THE INNER LIGHT

Paul

One of the best episodes of TOS.
