Since Nurse Egee will need to check the heartbeat of our patient, I wanted to test out audio samples with each of my microphones!

I need to turn the gain up on my mixer to 100% but I think it sounds pretty good! Once I figured out the technique, it's actually really easy to get these sounds. There's background noise but I'll edit that out for the roleplay.

I first tried capturing with the Tascam but the device's gain isn't high enough and the chassis makes a lot of noise when you touch it so that's a no go.

There are three samples separated by two pieces of effective silence:

The first sample uses uses my Shure SM57 but generates a lot of white noise at 100% gain.

The second sample uses the Shure Beta 58a. There's still some electrical noise but I like this sample the best.

The third sample uses my new Behringer XM8500. The audio level and lack of noise is great but the fidelity is much less than the Beta 58a (in my opinion).

Let me know what you think!

Yess Nurse Egee Ep2 is still a couple days out but I wanted to make sure I had the heartbeat sounds down before I started. Turns out it's pretty easy! It'll sound great with the electrical noise removed 😩

I agree on the second option being the best.
