Hey all!

I'm a patron of a few creators that do monthly or weekly update posts and it only occurred to me recently that I really enjoy reading them 😅

So I'm going to start doing my own!

Channel Stats

Looking at the numbers...

- Egee Channel

  • About 49,000 views total
  • 3 new videos totaling 3,369 views
  • This shitpost video got weirdly popular 🤔
  • People still enjoy live streams! Still trying to figure out how to expand the subject matter though...

- Open Egee Channel

  • About 3,200 views total
  • 3 new videos totaling 1,146 views
  • Super positive feedback from the role-playing video!
  • Tascam DR-05X is pretty much awesome

- No new videos for Egee Archive or Egee Nuevo

During the month, it always feels like I'm not working hard enough or producing enough but 3 videos for each channel comes out to 6 videos total which is more than some "full-time" channels produce!

I'm still struggling with video quality and content subjects. It feels like every idea I come up with just "isn't good enough" so I shelve it. Bah.

Soundcloud

  • One simple guitar track recorded in two takes, no overdubbing
  • Sang original stuff for the first time (on a different cut)

I produced just one track this week and I'm super happy with it. I got my tone dialed in and positioned the mics so the bias was on the left with a slight reverb on the right.

This track was the 2nd take from that set. I sang original lyrics on the first track but my confidence isn't quite there to make that stuff public yet. Maybe someday 😉

Egee.io

This is where most of my time was spent this month 😩

  • Switched from Salt & Docker to Bash & gsdcli
  • Switched to Salt & daemons from Bash & gsdcli
  • All servers run on EgeeOS 🎉

- Fully embraced hybrid-cloud approach!

1) Most "core infra" lives in AWS (Route53, ACM, S3, etc)
2) Compute instances (game servers) can be provisioned where-ever

The first two items might seem a little weird but let's just say that we needed to pivot quickly & support new hardware and it was way more efficient to do it with pure SaltStack.

The last of the core infra was moved out of Vultr into AWS which was a project I wanted to finish this project for a looong time. Yay!!

And finally.. all egee.io servers run on EgeeOS!!

EgeeOS

EgeeOS is the official Linux Distro that egee.io servers run on. It's technically been around for a while; I just decided to put a name on it recently.

But I did start a skunkworks EgeeOS desktop project this month! I'll talk more about it next month for sure 😉

Commissions

No commissions this month. All my favorite artists have been so busy!

And that's it for the month of August! Hope y'all liked this little status update!
