I've been having trouble lately with time & prioritizing my hobbies. As an engineer and generally data-minded person, I decided to make a database in Notion to figure out what exactly I was spending my time on.

Turns out, I do waaaay to many things to keep up on. Who knew!? 😅

But seriously, with family and life activities consuming more time and energy, I really need to prioritize things and focus on what makes me happy but also what people want to see.

Looking at the OG Egee channel, I cover the following topics:

I have so many topics/categories that I ran out of colors to code them with!

I collected the meaningful & measurable metrics and whittled down the topics that people either weren't engaged in or I simply wasn't interested in.

I don't want this post to be super long so I'll make this short list of what is staying and what is leaving:

Staying:

- Game Dev (Godot stuff mostly)

- Smartphone stuff

- Opinions/Thoughts (my video on Audacity as an example)

- "Self" (Folks really liked that video of Sevastopol Egee)

Leaving:

- DistroDelves (2nd lowest engagement across all topics)

- App Reviews

- Meta (channel updates, etc)

Benchmarking videos are a wildcard because they were super popular last year but now they have the single worst engagement for all topics.

And lastly, in lieu of producing DistroDelves videos, I'm going to be doing more opinionated & "Top 10" style videos since people do like my Linux stuff (but apparently not DistroDelves??) and I've been asked to give my opinion on new user distros a lot this year.

Let me know what you think of all of this! I made a separate sheet for OpenEgee and I'll be writing a post about that one soon!

Boiling Steam

I'd definitely appreciate some Godot stuff, particularly in the 3D area. I'm waiting for the 4.0 release before I get back into development with the engine (I've experimented with a few basic FPS games).
