Daily practice is damn important to me. When was only starting to draw many years ago, drawing full-body poses was impossible to me. I didn't know anything about gesture lines or figure drawing. It took me some time to actually build up the courage to try it. I can see it repeating itself in beginning artists over and over again. Fear of failure. Fear of getting out of their bubble to start seriously pursue improvement. Countless excuses. Not being ready, not being good enough, having too little time, other people being better than them or starting but failing...
You'll always fail at the beginning. It's impossible to be great in a not yet acquired skill. You won't be good if you don't know what you're doing. First let the lesson soak in. I'll always recommend lessons of ProkoTV on YouTube. Start with gesture drawing. Practice at least hour a day. Make into a habit. And turn off your inner critic. What is important at the beginning is to keep on drawing no matter what. Keep every sketch you made. No matter how crappy it it. No matter how incorrect it is, no matter how much you hate it. Keep it and move on. It's one of hundreds of sketches you'll create. It's not a masterpiece and it wasn't supposed to be one. Practice is for you. And this crappy sketch is for a future you to look back on it and see the progress. You won't be able to see if you're getting better if you keep on tossing every crappy sketch away. I tossed it out when i was younger, but now i regret it... It would be so cool to look back on humble beginnings, remember how anxiously i was threading around my sketches, and pat myself on the back for not giving up.
Don't give up. Keep on going. Create many many sketches, and please don't get attached to them mentally. Look forward without fear of falling with every step you make. Don't stop to worry about every stone or branch on your way. You'll find a way to walk through it.
Just keep on going.
