This is a follow-up post for the Patreon Poll I just posted. I just wanted to get the general feel but some people want more details on why I'm considering this change.

1. Limitations - Right now, given how I stream through Vimeo, there are bandwidth limitations that I can't exceed. This is the reason why I try and keep my streams around 5 hours since going longer will force me to pay Vimeo more. As it stands I'm already giving them over $20k a year and it's only going up the longer I stream. I know a lot of you don't care about that, but I absolutely do. Without Vimeo breathing down my neck, I can do 6 or 7-hour video recording's EASILY without worrying about time limits. Watch half a season or the entire season of a show without worrying about the Vimeo Monster growing stronger every passing minute. I can also upload more frequently since there isn't a timeframe as to when I can react since they will all be video recordings. This actually gives me more freedom to stream on Twitch... which you know what that means.

2. Moats - Moving forward I will be making the Patreon live streams only visible to Patreons, no matter what. The main reason is that YT channels have been/will be taking my content and porting it to YT when it should be reserved only for you guys. I'm no fool and I KNOW it's not enough to completely prevent this, which is why I will be making strides to strike and block these channels/videos through an active 3rd party. However, a baseline paywall is a deterrent ON TOP of actively striking content. This is very important for NOT just Patreon but also my Kingu~san channel since that content is this Patreon's content. The main issue is the divide this will create with you guys, the Patreons, and Non-Patreons. Since you guys will be able to Chat Live, there will be animosity targeting aimed at you guys. There might be the need to create the Passione-club on Discord accessible ONLY to you guys, but that won't stop a lot of the hate. So the safe bet for everyone might be to fortress the whole Patreon and only have videos instead of streams.

3. Speed - Aside from uploading videos more frequently the anime reactions themselves will be shorter too. I've gotten a LOT of complaints about my interactions with chat and how much time they take from the actual reaction itself. I do enjoy chat interactions 100%, but for an anime reaction they seem "counter-productive". When I react on my own time it's a much quicker reaction. 50mintues shortens to 34minutes or shorter. I really do wonder if I NEED interactivity for my reactions since we ARE watching Anime.

4. Format - The Gateway for this Patreon in the future will be the Kingu~san channel and hopefully more people join as that channel continues to grow. However, 1 thing the new members seem to be confused about is how to interact with the content. Since I do everything in 1 BIG stream, outside of Paasione+, people don't know where to look or even start. Even though my descriptions have the anime I watch during the stream, Patreon itself doesn't have a clear way of organizing posts like say YT has it. If I didn't have the big streams in the first place and had marathons or seasonal anime reactions videos, it makes the overall format of my Patreon page so much cleaner.

5 - Last thing: Me - This I'll keep vague since I'm not one to really share my personal issues unless they're physical health issues... which to be fair some of them are. Obviously, I'm not the healthiest dude and that does affect the job. Of late I've been feeling hella drained and a good night's sleep is a luxury. It might surprise you but with the work I do; streaming, pre & post video editing, thumbnail creation, researching, and a list of other things... let's just say 80hrs a week isn't out of the question, weekends are just as busy as weekdays. Shit like other channels taking my content, people KNOWING about it but not finding out until recently is also added stress... in my family stress is a killer and it's part of the reason why I try to just enjoy life and work I do. Gaming has always helped me alleviate stress but you know how that's going. Anyway, relying on 5-hour energy just to focus all the time ain't healthy, and mentally I'm not as focused as I used to be. Being 400+lbs isn't manageable at my age. So no matter what I am going to have to make schedule changes, just so I can get that time to focus on my health.

There you go, that's the full list as to why I'm considering stopping streaming on Patreon. But based on the poll results most of you still want it, so I'm not gonna take it away atm. What I'll do moving forward is stream earlier in the day and ONLY to you guys the Patreons. I also will ONLY STREAM important shows like One Piece, Summertime Render, Isekai Ojisan, etc. Other shows like Spriggan, BASTARD, and w/e I'll record videos for and upload them. I'll do a poll and let you guys decide later.

Anyway, I'll see you Monday night for Anime Tonight.

Stay safe and strong mate! Health first!

Erm1c

Aye man you’re health comes first so don’t worry about it

skyler peters

I did originally vote to keep chat but I’m rethinking things after reading your own reasons for this. Honestly if this change would be such a huge help for you then screw the poll just do what you gotta do big man

Shin splits

Tbh that’s fair I feel like every season. You should make a post of what shows we decide to actually livestream vs just making it a video. Like let’s say bleach vs just a random isekai we decide to watch. We can limit down to maybe 5 shoes per stream which can lower the the stream time to maybe 3-4 hours at best

KingStation314

no worries KOL since the important anime is my only interest I think its the best choice for both sides much love man + Health comes first always

Richard Serrano

I voted yes but after reading all this I'll go with the other option. It's a lot more important to take of yourself man. Plus after thinking about it even though chat interactions can be fun at times other times they bitch just to bitch so I'm cool with no more live streams and just regular uploads on here.

Raquayza

Seems i was correct in that assessment those are vaild points do you man ill be watching either way

Robel T

just do whatever is best for you, ill be watching regardless!!

Jairo

We are in the golden age of anime, I think if we support you in the right way will be fine! We need your anime reactions now more then ever. Some people really do have problems with mental health and you help them more then you know I’m sure, but you do matter the most! So do what’s best for you brother

Ebankz

I get what you mean, reaction content is wildly popular on YouTube and Patreon and moving to just reactions is a good idea from a business standpoint. I think you should try it out especially if you feel it's a better option for you. From my experience a successful Patreon reaction channel that keeps me subscribed is a consistent schedule. I know I keep mentioning Yaboyroshi but i think they've cracked the code on reaction content, they have 14000+ Patreons at $10 a month. They update their lineup of reactions frequently and always update their fans if they have delays. If you could take inspiration from them I believe you build something great here. Some people may be upset but if you split them into single reactions on YouTube you have the opportunity to gain new followers. Keep doing what you do man love the content, whatever you decide we'll support no doubt 🔥 👍🏾

VictorVon

I am a patreon supporter and the thing for me is that the live streams give me an escape from the stresses of life and mental strains. I usually only watch the important/seasonal animes because of how long the stream go and they are just more interesting. However, the most significant aspect for me with the streams are the interactions with KOL and the chat. It gives me a place of belong, while in my current situation I have no friends or others to speak to in my free time. Even discord is difficult for me to interact with because of my comments being ignored or being overwhelmed with discussions on topics others have more knowledge of. That just why the anime streams are important to me.

Fenri

Yeah bro take your time we love and support you! also can you unban me on discord it's been 2+ years, I said some dumb shit which was were immature and moronic, I'm sorry for that.

Rizzi

Hey kol, please prioritize your health, without you their are no reactions after all. Also have you considered streaming through screen share on discord? It’s certainly more restrictive but 20k on Vimeo yearly is a number where ID support (even urge) you axing the Patreon streams. I don’t pay to support you just for Vimeo to slide a hand in your tip jar!

Tony

What kept you different than everyone else was the live chat i think chat is is great.. after reading what you said a few things i want to say is. everyone i follow on patreon has had the same issues as you with vemeo and everyone when over to Streamable they all said its a much better deal for them you should look into that..if you are going reactions only it wouldn't be the worst thing. like i mention your the only one that does live reaction with chat tive i do love/hate watching chat talk to you since alot of time there funny and annoying like hell as well. either way you go as long as you do a consistent upload schedule. your channel should grow for patreon and youtube i think. i will miss chat but do what you think is best.just don't forget to upload the damn videos in a consistent time frame.

Larry Dilorenzo

I like the idea of making it Patreons only and only important anime. I do think that having the chat apart of the anime that you feel are important to you though would be beneficial. Communicating with us is one of the most fun parts of your stream besides the reaction itself of course. However, at the end of the day your health comes first and what you feel is best to do. I'll support and follow either way.

Devin Jackson

I've been watching your content for a long time, and all I say is this you worked extremely hard. I think with this particular issue you should prioritize your health over anything else.

AzN Elevation

Health first brother, and take your time. I'll wait patiently for the content.

TADJV

Ok. Everything makes much more sense. I appreciate how you listed and properly explained the situation. $20k a year. Shiiit... You do you man. I'll be here and many people will still be here. I also like the compromise of only live reacting to the important shows. But a problem that I may see in the future is, how would you know which seasonal anime will be "important?" I would suggest that you watch the first 1-2 episodes non-live but still recorded, and then make a decision whether or not to transfer that over to the "important section."

furuyabuorbon

Many blessings and wishes KOL, I've been a fan of yours for a very long time!! from the bleach, Naruto, one piece chapter reaction/reviews.. I support whatever it is you want to do brother! we gotchu fam!

Baka With Glasses

May you rest well and figure out a good balance. Be praying for ya man.

General

I enjoy chat interactions but 20k a year sounds rough, focusing on more important animes with shorter stream time is definitely the move especially if its affecting your health, you do what's best for you king

EOussama

Take a break man, no need to rush. You have provided us with countless of fun hours over the years. Your health is the first concern here.

Edmund Obeng

Appreciate the explanation. I dont know what form's best, but can say cutting back I think is reasonable. I liked chat, but if it ain't sustainable it ain't sustainable. No one tryna see you get bankrupted or kill yourself from overwork. You're one of the only anime guys who live streams reactions at this volume, so if you have to DRASTICALLY cut back, it's honestly understandable. Some shows might be better off just with a 15-30 min yt review too

Phoenix Lopez

Vimeo chat is not needed 😤😤

Xavier Ruffin

Just do what’s best for you man we just here to support you regardless

tacoloco

all i can say is i really enjoy the long format streams with the chat. idk how to make it work but yeah.

Yuion

Unfortunately the streams for patreon are unreachable for me atm. I always have to watch the vods because you start streaming at like 4-5am my time. That said, I still really enjoy watching the vods and I personally think its the most enjoyable content you put out. Sometimes the chat is unbearable and really fucking rude (i would have straight up banned some of these people) but at other times the memes happening there are comedy gold with your reactions Your health goes first though. If you really put out 80 hours thats way to much and you need to cut stuff down. You will just burn yourself out. So do whatever you need to do to fix that. I will still support you as I do now

Alba Zawa

I rly like the way things are but if it’s affecting you that much yea I don’t mind if you only want to stream the popular stuff and just post individual vids of single eps for less popular stuff. All chat do for the less popular stuff is bitch anyway. But at the beginning of a season how will u decide if this is a popular series or not? And what about the patreon poll series like monogatari s;g kaguya etc? Will those be recorded vids only?

Spino

1. - 20k a year is crazy, absolutely understandable from you. Are there some alternative options when it comes to steaming sites? 2. - I honestly don't care about a divide, if people end up toxic towards us patreons, we will report them an your mods can ban them. I don't feel like your community is overly toxic though so I'm not worrying too much. Also I think it might push people to joining the patreon if they were on the edge before. 3. - That's a fair point. But I feel long sidetracked rants about random unrelated shit is just you. We watch you for you and while it can be tiring occasionally, I wouldn't wanna miss that. Though I'm sure I and others will support the contend either way. But live reactions while live streaming makes people feel way more included and closer than pre recorded live reactions. 4. - I think as long as you don't forget to put everything that was watched in the big streams in the descriptions, everything is easy enough to navigate here. Patreon obviously isn't specialized in organizing videos like youtube is. Though I am a BIG fan of marathons particularly. Maybe one or two weekly big streams with all the seasonal stuff and then all shows outside of that could have marathon streams that will happen when you find the time and will be announced a few days beforehand. That would also stop the annoying fighting over what to watch in the big stream chats. For example I saw people not wanting to watch Steins;Gate during the big streams which annoyed the fuck out of me (because it's fucking amazing) and that wouldn't happen on a Steins;Gate marathon stream. 5. I think some of that stuff like thumbnail creation or some types of research can be outsourced rather cheaply. Just ask the community there are probably dozens of people willing to help you. And health is the most important thing in the world, take all the time you need to adopt a healthier lifestyle, we still believe in your Superalloy Darkshine future. I coincidentally started sports again and changed my diet six weeks ago and while I wasn't as obese as you are, I still managed to lose over 25 pounds. If I can, there is no reason why you couldn't. We will support whatever answers you come up with. Looking forward to the next streams. Much love King!

CiferTheOnlyOne

I recently joined your Patreon (2-3 Months ago) and I am normally a ninja watcher of your content. First of all, I wish you the best man and good luck + keep the motivation to work on your health. There is no price tag when it comes to health. As for the streams: I do enjoy the chat in your reactions. The humour of this community in combination with your skill to make the most random shit funny as hell would be missed if I am being honest. It also comes probably down to a good schedule. And sometimes the small shows are only really watchable because of these interactions. So, I would miss the live chat. If you can find a solution where you reduce the costs for Vimeo without taking the LiveChat completely out of your reactions, I would appreciate it. That's said, do what you believe is the best long-term. For example, I love the edited One Piece reactions, but It was prob. a good decision to just do the Livestream on youtube without any editing after that. Kind regards from Germany

PT333

Take a break, focus on whats important for you. Health always comes first. I'm all for keeping the chat and the interactions with the community. Sometimes they detract from the experience, sure, but everything has its up and downs and removing it would make it less fun. I will understand if it is removed because of the issues you pointed out. I had no idea about the cost on Vimeo. You could possibly stream on Youtube instead using the KOL Requiem channel, using their Membership system that works similarly to Patreon and i know that Membership exclusive streams are possible, this would have the upside of not paying Vimeo crazy amounts and growing that channel faster, andthe downsides of strike possibility which can be circumvented by not showing the anime (after all, Uzumaki Khan still has a channel). Anyways im sure you'll find some solution, and if there's big changes coming that is fine, because the fundamental content will still be the same. I wish you the best health and good luck in your future plans.

Jerof

we are on patreon to support you and have a fun time, if you think that you can find a better place for doing this (since this is what im getting out of "not streaming on patreon") then im completely fine. What i like most about patreon is the way all streams are still here and watchable, if i want a reaction to a specific episode of an anime, i just use the Name-Tag and count the streams down to that episode. Whatever you think is best, still confused about thr last part tho, you mean for other none important shows you want to make normal reaction vids? Also i personally really like the chat interactions, those who dont like it can just watch your stream afterwards and fast forward if you take longer for certsin moments, so i dont see a problem on that part.

Zeus09

Hey kol I’m sure most of us here have been watching you since the dorm days and it’s been a fun journey and cool seeing how you’ve evolved and grown as a content creator/reactor. All we care about is you being good in health and mind. Looking forward to the future.

glance

Go get them gains KOL and come back to us as Unchained. We’ll wait for u.

Dino Marusic

Since I'm from Europe no streams won't really affect me XD But I do agree that more often than not the chat interactions are distracting you from the anime reaction. However, there are aso times where chat helps you out if you missed something. So it's a double edged sword, I guess. Just focus on what feels best to you, health comes first.

VampCinder

Dude Vimeo taking over $20k a year and your physical health being in a bad place are MORE than enough reasons to switch things up. Please take care of yourself first and foremost, regardless of anything else. It's true that the chat has an important role in your stream style, but it's also true that it tends to distract from the main content at hand. Ideally it would be good if there was a way to lessen interaction with chat while still keeping it, but I know that's a bit much to ask. If you feel like it'll improve your content and it's necessary, I think you should at least try it out.

Sean Devine

I don't see why you don't just ditch Twitch, Dlive & Patreon and just do everything on youtube on your yt channels, if you build a big enough brand on yt and you get recognized by somebody or some company that is able to sponsor you then you'll be able to use that money to grow you brand even more, earn more money off of millions of views & new subs, and by eventually being one of the biggest content creators on yt, you'll be able to provide for yourself and your family you just stretched yourself out too thinly and need to recollect yourself by choosing to be a little selfish by doing what you know is best for you, not what us strangers think you need the only person that can truly help you with these problems at the end of the day is you, no one else, so be a little selfish and make some choices that'll help you mentally in the long run

TheSaberOfXebec

Cut that 20k bullshit and yea if its healthier for you then I think its an obvius choice the poll is really close and I think if u would have posted it after this it would have been even closer.

Tempo

Honestly I don't care if it's not live but I REALLY like watching along the whole episode. Your reactions are hilarious.

Xive

KOL maybe try to find someone who would allow you to react to anime but not have that Vimeo payment cause that's an insane amount for essentially making your own videos

Nicolò Pescia

Don't worry king, you have all the right to decide how to deliver your own content, and if you think it is better for your health to stop streaming i'm sure everyone will understand. Anyway, I'll always be here supporting you waiting for your reactions.

onepieceCreatesAutism

my post yesterday predictd kol would stream less and less then drop reactions in favor of easy gaming content anyone could do. who knew it would be the day after.

onepieceCreatesAutism

kol the first part of what you wrote was stupid you make enough money to have somone edit FOR you. you should of asked your fans for help. if your taking 5 hour energy to stream reactions that should tell you to do twitch less because reactions are one of the easiest things in the whole damn world to do compared to others. it looks like you finally agreed that chat is useless and wastes too much time and switchin over to video format is the best so we dont sit through so much filler. maybe now your worth my 2 dollars. P.S. you moron you sleep 6 am into the night get your sleep schedule right no wonder your body stressed u made it that way. also u eat like a pig get a nutritionist from ashito no aoi to make ur meal plans

Tony Diamond

Well he started out on YT for years, but YT was starting to do a lot B.S and I think I remember at 1 point he was 1 strike away from getting his channel taken down. That's what started the multiple channels( they started as backup channels) and this was all back before twitch and when he just did manga reactions and reviews. That's why he doesn't just stay on YT. YT doesn't really care about the creators

Tony Diamond

Do whatever you want King. I was about to shit bricks I thought you were gonna stop reactions all together😂. But in all seriousness I wish you good health and I hope you get some sleep man. P.S- JUST A WARNING! Watch out for Film Red spoilers there a couple buzzing around the internet now. Heathens!

Zero

Personally I would like to see the streams but if it’s better for u go for it I will cope with the mega church on Fridays

Venom White

Sounds like you already know what you want to do. The chat does create some hilarious moments and sometimes it's helpful when you miss or misunderstand stuff but it's not a must for me. I guess the best way to please both sides is to stream only popular shows that people want to "take part in" and make "normal" reactions to the other shows. Just do your thing, some people might leave but other people will join. If you just try to please people and chase numbers you will stop enjoying what you do which will make the content worse.

onepieceCreatesAutism

he asked for my input look at the post from yesterday you ass bitch! im the only one giving constructive critism all of u yes sheep dog men just selfishly just tell him whatever u think he wants to hear. fk the chat we dont need a chat for a reactioner its full of crybabys and 1 piss fans. im going to turn kol into a respectable MAN and not just any man a STREAMER MAN, with my guidance. he clearly needs somone to tell him to fix his diet he even admits to it himself nothing i said was disrespectful its called tough love, something your parents should have gave you. toughen up buttercup

onepieceCreatesAutism

know what else is easy telling kol not to go on a diet and not to get 8 hours of sleep and not do anything on stream days and just laze around. your so selfish u should of told him to cut down on his twitch streams we dont need to see all his one piece rants he can also hire somone just to help him edit all his videos like 90 percent of youtubers already do. all of you guys's advice are so terrible and selfish and dont help people at all just enables them

Eric MacKenna

Honestly only been around about 3 months on the patreon. So I could be really far off here but, I think you should focus on your health and just work on getting better. It's crazy to suck down 5 hour energies sleep is crucial, I personally like the longer streams/videos but that's crazy to pay 20k a year and while I'm sure you're not losing money on it, that's just an uneeded expenditure, to save money and make your life easier I'd say go to videos. But to be clear again I really love the streams and think they're great but even I noticed how crazy it is to just sit down twice a week, 4 times a month 5-6 hours every strean to watch anime and chat (not knocking you, but with the pauses and news theres what usually only 8-10 epsiodes a night?) For 5+ hours you can watch more around 15 episodes which you'd be able to do on your own also alleviating some of the pressure with a better usage of time on videos. During the streams there's about 300 people give or take 100 for when it hits the peak for BIG shows, and I think maybe focusing on those could be a middle ground itd probably save money with the vimeo by not paying the overtime and only watching the big ones with a poll or something in patreon for which shows we wanna actually watch, because by the end of the night it hovers around like 80-100 people and only 15-20 of those people who even bother to use the chat and communicate with you, I don't think it's worth it with everything else you're doing whether that be the Friday stream kingu-san, one punch man, black clover, record of ragnarok, the random streams like Shanks summit, plus the content that's out just on the main channel which i think is what everyone keeps forgetting. I support whatever choice you make hope you feel better soon my guy.

rokitup

Prioritize your health and take a break if needed fam. You can just upload reactions to the most important anime on ur own

Donjon

Gotta make sure you stay healthy king. Take all the time you need for your mental as well. Been watching you for years now and I’d love to see you get healthier as I watch you for many more to come brother

Sean Devine

yeah but it was the way he did things that got him in trouble, there's ways around those troubles that he straight up refused to commit to because doing so would lower the quality of his content, but it's better to be safe then sorry, plus, there's plenty of yt channels that react to anime on yt and still get lots of views and subs from it, as for Gaming, I don't see why he doesn't just do something similer to what markiplier or jacksepticeye does by creating lets plays through one to two hour sessions, and if he earns a big enough income, he'll be able to pay for editors to edit on all of his content, he should just focus on taking a break & working on gaining a healthy mindset and body first & foremost, he should then focus on growing his brand until it's big enough to where he can earn millions off of merch, sponsers and possibly even physical activites, he'll also provide better lives for his family as well by doing so, he keeps thinking short term instead of long term, if he tries to strive for a larger plan that'll provide a far bigger payoff then these little payoffs these short plans provide then he'll dig himself out of all the mess he's in in no time, he just needs exercise perserverence, dedication & consistency for him to get that big payoff

Jairo

Do we know what time KOL is streaming today ? I’m guessing early since we got double feature everything ?

Alba Zawa

Damn someone bought in for the 4K $ tier wtf

onepieceCreatesAutism

u cant say that its consider bitch ass to tell somone to change their sleep schedule or get more sleep. like i been sayin this from get go kol needs to cut down his normal twitch streams they dont need to be that long at all. and that he should stream earlier and sleep at like 12 am atleast like a normal human. it just sucks nobody understands our wisdom. also how expensive is hiring somone to edit your videos especialy if u hire a fan

Darths Vadar

yeah what the fuck

Jairo

Dude KOL if this is your last stream you better go out with a bang, this shit is no joke, you got people who depend on you for you mental health, it’s crazy that you take up that job and don’t follow through, sorry long time fan but this is crazy

Jairo

You better stream

Acea

i forgot how to use Crunchy roll

Tony Diamond

Hope you got some rest K.O.L

2022-08-26 18:02:48 Hey King, I hope you work on your health and take it slow! Persistence and patience is key. I wasn’t at 400lbs but i was obese. 230lbs at 5’4 height. It’s taken me 14 months and I’m down to 149lbs. Just start today. Don’t cut EVERYTHING out of your diet but instead make small changes. Instead of a fries, burger and drink; get a burger and drink. Those small changes add up. Wishes you the best, ik it isn’t easy.<3

Damn bro wishing you the best most definitely go miss the streams

I know I'm answering this months late but Vimeo is definitely a scam, search Vimeo on twitter and you'll see plenty of instances of them actually 'shaking down' content creators. I would highly advise looking for an alternative if that's at all possible.
