On this week's episode, Krupa and Gav talk about food. A lot. We recorded before lunch and it shows. We cover squeezy eggs, bean salads using the three 'big beans', and why some people find mushrooms scary.

But don't worry, there's still plenty of time to tackle the other big topics such as touching Lincoln's beard, tending to nuns' graves, and the ethics of taking a selfie with a corpse.

For some reason when Gav talked about having to clean his plate even though he was full made me think of that Simpsons episode: Homer: Bacon up that sausage, boy. Bart: But Dad my heart hurts Homer: *looks sternly* Bart: Ugh *wraps sausage with bacon* I’m sure your mom is very lovely, Gav.

As a Scot living in Edinburgh, Monty’s is not a typical Scottish breakfast at all. I find they try to reach a bit to up their offering for the Bruntsfield and Morningside crowd, without much consideration as to how the combo would actually taste. Square sausage, link sausage, potato scone, fried eggs, haggis and black pudding are usual staples of Scottish breakfast. Other additional options include beans, mushrooms, hash brown, grilled tomatoes and a personal favourite of mine, toasted Scottish pancakes (small in circumference and thicker than the English ones. Unsure if welsh pancakes are a thing! ). Apologies for the bad poaching. I’ve hardly ever seen poached eggs as the default in Scottish breakfasts - almost always fried. I’ve heard that poached is seen as the healthiest breakfast egg choice sometimes - no wonder we aren’t good at it in Scotland 🙃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
