As some of you might've seen on Instagram, I recently lost my job. The bad news is that I might have a little less time for comics while I look for ways to immediately supplement my income (I got three kids to feed). The good news is that one of the ways to immediately supplement my income will be trying to punch up my patreon! That will likely mean more tiers, more perks, that sorta thing. And if anyone has any suggestions for content they'd like to see or appealing perks for higher level tiers, please let me know in the comments to this post or send me a dm.
Overall, I'd just love to see my patreon become a bigger part of supporting myself and my family.
And one big way to do that might be to switch my lowest tier from $1 to $2. That definitely doesn't mean anyone will be charged more than they pledged, or that any current content will be going away for $1 a month patrons. And even if I made that change, I would still provide all the benefits of the $2 tier to $1 a month patrons for at least one year. Also, Q&As and behind the scenes peaks will always be available to all patrons, regardless of whether or not they're supporting a particular tier. The only thing I'm currently considering moving to a $2 a month tier is the exclusive monthly comic. But I don't want anyone to feel like I'm trying to get away with something sneaky or taking anything way. And absolutely no decision on this has been made.
I've just noticed a lot of patreon creators have shifted their lowest tier to $2 instead of $1 a month. And while it's a small thing for brand new first time patrons selecting their first tier, it makes a big impact for creators.
Anyway, I wanna hear your thoughts on all this. So I've got a poll down below with some potential responses to the questions: If I were to shift my lowest patreon tier from $1 a month to $2 a month, what would you do?
Also, please please please chime in with any and all additional thoughts in the comments.
