As some of you know (or helped in achieving) we reached a milestone in November that centered on the purchase of back up equipment. I had spoken on the importance of why it was needed and how our system before was inadequate. Well thanks to your generous support during December we were able to purchase all the equipment over the weekend. For those that don't really understand what they see I will go into a tiny bit of depth. The TS-453 is what is called a NAS (network attached storage), this is basically a digital filing cabinet and copier in one. Imagine if you will that you had a file (digital or not), and you saved it on your local pc (or filing cabinet). Now at some scheduled point the NAS looks and sees that new file, it then saves it on itself, and replicates it in a separate area on the NAS. Now if we have a complete cpu failure we can recreate the lost data. Or if the NAS has a drive or two fail we can then replicate the lost data also. This is basically what you see here (all files are saved in triplicate, important files are quadrupled). Also we bought some small business grade network gear (router, wireless AP), and a battery backup. All this stuff basically is a insurance plan protecting you the content you were promised to get.

Just to show how we could have used this recently, was when Sunset rolled back Injustice from 1.4-1.5 and lost a lot of work (about a months’ worth). We would have been able to save time in being able to follow the work flow over the time he worked and added all the content that was lost in very little time. Due to the fact that we would have saved instances of the game development progress. Now with our new project being OC we need to insure all the assets created are safe and sound for ever.

Another way this improves work flow is it will save Sunset valuable time as he just saves work as he goes along. I can then go and remotely access the NAS and upload content for you guys. Before I would contact Sunset and request a piece of content be uploaded to the cloud. I would then have to wait till that was done then complete the upload to you guys. This doesn't take much time when you look at it as a single event, but over the course of a month it adds up to a few hours that can be used to create awesome content.

In conclusion this is the first step in getting all the needed equipment for us to run very smoothly and efficiently. Thank you all for your generous support.

Mmmm all those sexy boxes. More please. One minor thing. "complete cpu failure" wouldn't affect anything since that's just the CPU. I know what you mean, but still, someone had to say it.
