CHAPTER 11

-

In the white marble hall that looked like something out of a Disney movie, a few prompts appeared in front of him as he read each one quickly since he had only 2 more minutes before launch.

For casual and friend duels, you could access the card editor and use cards that are not in your Duel Disk currently, while in ranked duels, you could only use the deck cards that you slotted into your Duel Disk, along with a side deck option that was coming in a few days by installing a Deck Loader which can hold up to 50 extra card slots with the normal 60 limit.

A very nice touch to the game to make the side deck more prominent.

Also, people were not eligible to play the ranked duel unless they were either professional duelists or had registered to be a ranker, something that he liked about the ranking system.

About the ranked system, it ranked as followed:

Beginner 1 to 5

Novice 1 to 5

Intermediate 1 to 5

Advanced 1 to 5

Professional 1 to 3

Master 1 to 3

King of Games

There was only one person that could be the King of Games, the ranked one duelist on the Nexus.

Only pro duelists had an instant rank of Professional, with him having the Beginner 1 rank which he was thankful for, meaning he could truly grind with handicaps.

Once he read everything, he closed the prompts before tapping on his Duel Disk's UI, starting the stream with a deep breath, after typing the stream's title.

Stream Title: [Industrial Illusions] High Rank Duels

Streamer: RED_HAT

Type: Ranked Duel

Starting...

STREAM STARTED

A little orb with a camera manifested in thin air, following his every move. Reaching out, he could grab onto it, move it as he pleased. There was even a remote function to move the orb around like a drone, very cool.

Adjusting his hat, he tapped on auto-move for the camera and took a deep breath before calming his emotions.

It's showtime.

The instant the game launched, people from around the world started to enter the Nexus, the server count increasing by thousands at the second until a total of 25,000 people were in the Domino 1 server.

Looking at the chat, he sees that a few people had joined the stream and were chatting, asking him questions about the game and what not since they saw that he was affiliated with Industrial Illusions

He however stayed silent, as he wanted to portray the Red Hat as a silent duelist. The moment the game started getting populated, he started the queue for ranked duels, waiting for a challenger.

A few minutes of waiting for the players to get used to the settings, he finally got a match, with his face under the hat frowning at the name.

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

Ranked Duel

Opponent: Insect_HAGA (Professional)

Map: Battle City

Accept?

Y  |  N

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

Tapping onto Y, he mentally hyped himself for the game as a bright line teleports him to a new location, the familiar grounds of Domino City panning back at him.

"Ahaha, it seems like my first prey is finally before me!"

A voice rang as he looked at the direction. The guy looked like a goth guy but green, with big round yellow glasses, green hair, a green blazer along with black slacks. He also had an orb floating around him, meaning he was streaming too.

He had a cocky grin as he rests his hands on his hips.

"My first duel, and I'm fighting against a Beginner? Darn, why can't I fight more powerful duelists?"

Even Ken's chat was going crazy at the appearance of Haga, saying that he had lost, asking for Haga's autograph, and shit talking him about his appearance. The internet, ladies and gentlemen.

He was so excited to shit on him.

Raising his Duel Disk, Haga sighs once more before raising his.

"Fine, I gave you your chance to keep your rating. Alright, prepare to be food for my Insect Queen!"

""DUEL! / Duel.""

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

RED_HAT: 4000 LP

Insect_HAGA: 4000 LP

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

Selecting tails, he waits as a coin starts flipping in his vision before landing on heads.

"Hahaha, it seems the game agrees with me! I draw!"

He drew a card from his Duel Disk before playing a card.

"I summon my Petit Moth (300/200) in Defense Position!"

With a shine, a beige worm appeared before curling up.

"This isn't my Moth's final form though, as I will equip the card, Cocoon of Evolution (0/2000) on it!"

He revealed Cocoon of Evolution from his hand before equipping it onto Petit Moth, the moth now swirling itself inside a cocoon of weirdly slimy silk that he does not want to think about.

"Petit Moth's ATK and DEF are now Cocoon of Evolutions!

I then set one card faced down before ending my turn! Hehehahaha, tremble in fear before my insects!"

...

That's what a villain dialogue usually is like. As expected from the clown of the series, he really lives up as a bad guy.

Drawing his card by gripping the card between his index and middle finger, he tilts the card to see it before he raised his eyebrow. That's a decent hand.

"I play Pantheism of the Monarchs. I discard two Monarch spell or trap cards to draw two."

"What? A Monarch deck?! How in the world did you get those, they're super rare?!"

Haga had a surprised face as Ken drew two extra cards.

Wait, super rare? Weren't Monarchs just expensive and common? Huh, his source was wrong then.

Looking at cards, he decided that it was game over for him. He had everything to break his board.

"I summon Edea the Heavenly Squire (800/1000) in Attack Position."

In a flash, Edea appeared with her golden armor.

"Heh, what's she going to do? She only has 800 ATK!"

Haga mocks as Ken ignored it. No need to waste his breath trash talking back when he was ending this duel in this turn.

"Her effect activates. When she is normal or special summoned, I can special summon a monster with 800 ATK and 1000 DEF in Defense Position. I choose Eidos the Underworld Squire."

Eidos appeared beside Edea, his dark armor contrasts with Edea's golden one.

"His effect activates. When he is normal or special summoned, I can now tribute summon one extra time this turn."

That caused Haga to look scared at the extra tribute summon, but quickly shifted back to his normal cocky face.

"Oh yeah? What's that going to do? My Petit Moth has 2000 DEF!"

"I play Domain of the Monarchs."

Suddenly the surrounding shifts as mist started to darken the sky. In a flash, all the monarchs bowed surrounded them both as they bowed to Ken, who was just in front of a stone throne.

"Its effect activates. I can reduce a Monarch's level on my hand down by 2. I choose Ehther the Heavenly Monarch."

Revealing the powerhouse of his deck, he then finishes up his combo.

"Then, I activate The Monarchs Stormforth. If I would tribute a monster for a tribute summon, I can tribute 1 monster my opponent controls."

Haga's face paled as Ken confirmed his fear.

"I tribute summon Ehther the Heavenly Monarch (2800/1000) in Attack Position using your Petit Moth as tribute material."

With a whisk of light, Petit Moth shattered into white fragments of light, causing Haga to cry in pain.

"No, my Petit Moth!"

The fragments then moved to his side of the field, combining to summon Ehther the Heavenly Monarch.

"Her effect activates upon tribute summoning her. I discard two Monarch spell or trap cards from my deck to special summon one monster with 2400 or more ATK and 1000 DEF from my deck to the field.

Discarding Monarchs Erupt and Tenacity of the Monarchs, I special summon Erebus the Underworld Monarch (2800/1000) in Attack Position."

Ehther raised her staff as a white light burst from her staff, piercing the ground as suddenly a hole appeared from the ground before Erebus in his glory appeared.

Haga gulps at the presence of the two Monarchs before his eyes moved to his set card on his backrow.

"Finally, I play MST on your set card."

The set card gets blown away into the typhoon as Haga's field was now empty with no cards at all.

"Battle. Ehther and Erebus attacks directly."

Both of them started charging up their respective energies before blasting it towards Haga.,

BOOOM!!!

The impact caused him to fly a few feet back before dropping to the ground.

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

RED_HAT: 4000 LP

Insect_HAGA: 4000 LP → 0 LP

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

RED_HAT WINS!

=x=x=x=x=x=x=

"And the show's over."

He said to himself as he looked away from Haga's charred body, holding onto the bill of his cap.
