CHAPTER 5

-

In the end, he won the tournament due to The First Darklord and his effect, which was quite anti-climactic because it only took one round to set up his board, meaning his match was done in turn 2 or 3.

At least he had some money now, he was thinking to get a phone and a plan with it since he didn't have access to the internet at all.

It's been a month since the tournament, and for some reason, he was very famous in Domino now due to him winning the annual tournament.

People sometimes wish for fame, he thinks that it is very annoying to have.

"Duel me!"

"No, me!"

"Back off, he's fighting me!"

Ken sighed in annoyance quickly hastening his steps, telling them that he was busy with some things. Darn it, maybe he shouldn't have gone all out in the tournament... What was he even thinking, OTK-ing this era of players?

And winning the tournament really made him spooked out by some other things...

This was after the tournament, as he walked to the entrance of his home. He fished for his keys and was about to unlock his door when the door opened itself.

"What in the world..."

Now freaked out, he entered into his home, the hallway more menacing with the lights off as he carefully walked through the hall.

Checking each room, he cleared all the rooms, and had one more room left to check, his.

Putting his hand on the knob of the door, he hesitates for a moment before opening it.

"... Oh, fucking hell..."

On his table was a black box, similar to that day after entering the tournament. Someone had left it there. This time, it had a note on it.

Making sure that no one was in the room, he took the note out and read it aloud.

"For being number 1 in the Annual Domino School Under-15 Tournament.

Next objective: Duel Academy.  A prize will be given once objective is complete.

To: Yusou Ken"

Staring at the box, he dropped his backpack before ripping the wrapped box open, revealing a deck of cards.

He took the cards out of the deck and thumbed them.

"Monarch cards..."

Erebus the Underworld Monarch stared back as he sat on his chair, checking the deck.

It was a normal Monarch deck with its support cards, the whole set.

He recalled that Monarchs were super expensive, costing about 19,000 Yen to make a decent deck from due to their straightforward and aggressive play style to cancel out extra deck monsters.

Staring back at the note on his hand, he quickly remembered that the cards were out in the open air.

"Crap! Sleeves, sleeves, sleeves..."

Opening his drawer, he quickly took out his sleeves before individually putting all of them carefully into them. Once they were properly sleeved, only did he relax a little. Sighing, he took the cards before testing them out.

It's a gift anyways, might as well use them.

RINGGGG~~~

The bell for the school ended as Ken quickly kept his books into his backpack. Today was the day that he would finally get a phone for himself, god knows he needed one.

Slinging his backpack, he thanked the students that congratulated him for his victory a week ago before power walking out of the school —

"Excuse me, Yusou Ken."

He froze at the mention of his name. Looking at the direction where the sound came from, his body stiffens when he saw a man in a black suit and black sunglasses was talking to him.

"Mr. Pegasus would like to have a word with you."

That caused his head to hurt. Pegasus? You mean that Maximillion Pegasus who kidnapped Yugi's grandpa because of wanting the Millennium Puzzle to revive his dead wife, that Maximillion Pegasus?

Sure, his Millennium Eye was removed, but this was still suspicious.

"May I know the reason for it?"

"He would like to talk about some sponsorship deals with you and Industrial Illusions."

Looking at the black limousine, he thought about it before nodding.

"Alright."

Leading him to the car, he sat on the comfortable leather seats before starting his journey to Pegasus, with him gripping on the straps of his backpack. This was his trump card in case some shit happened, dueling, so he held onto it like his life depended on it.

-

Walking in the mansion felt really eerie, as if someone was watching him.

The man from earlier told him to walk up the stairs of the living room and continue straight until he sees a red door.

Yep, he sees the red door. A 10-meter twin door that had the picture of a blonde woman on both doors.

... He was so fucked.

Knocking on the door, he waited for a few seconds before the doors opened automatically, revealing a duel station that looked familiar to the stations that were in Duelist Kingdom.

Sitting in the middle of the hologram zone was a Maximillion Pegasus on a white luxurious chair, staring at him with a smile.

"Ohohoho, so you've finally come, Yusou-boyya."

That sent shivers down his spine as he calmed himself down.

"Mr. Pegasus, it's an honor."

He bowed slightly in respect as the man waved it off, standing from his seat.

"Now, you might be wondering why I called you here..."

He walked up a flight of stairs that led to the main console of the dueling station.

"Well, would you entertain me with a simple duel before we converse?"

...

He was so hoping to say no, but he agreed as he walked up to his station. Fishing his deck from his backpack, he laid it down before placing his deck onto the deck zone of the console.

Calm down, Ken, this guy doesn't have the Millennium Eye anymore. He can't activate a Shadow Game and send your ass to the Shadow Realm.

"Shall we?"

Pegasus asked, and with a nod, they started the duel.

""DUEL!""

Ken's LP: 4000

Pegasus' LP: 4000

"I shall let you start your turn."

He gave him the turn as Ken started his draw phase. Drawing his hand and the turn 1 card, he blinked as he noticed that his hand was weird.

"... Oh, crap..."

Wait, hold on a minute, why was Ehther the Heavenly Monarch staring back at him? He swore he placed his Darklord deck on the console —

"Are you alright, Yusou-boyya?"

He asked when he took too long to start his turn.

"S-Sorry. Ahem! I start by playing the spell card, Pantheism of the Monarchs. This allows me to send a Monarch spell or trap card from my hand to the GY, and after that I can draw 2 cards."

He sends Monarch Erupt to the GY and drew 2.

"Oh, a Monarchs deck! And you have gotten a functioning one so quickly after your tournament... Very interesting..."

Brrr... This guy's gaze was very terrifying...

"I then activate Pantheism of the Monarchs' effect! I can banish this card from my GY to reveal 3 Monarch spell or trap cards from my deck, you'll have to choose 1 for me to add to my hand, and I shuffle the rest back into the deck.

Finding the cards from his deck, he places all three of them onto the field for Pegasus to see.

"... Very smart, Yusou-boyya. I unfortunately have to choose Tenacity of the Monarchs since you revealed all 3 copies."

Nodding, Ken takes one of the copies into his hand before shuffling the other two back into his deck.

"I'll activate the spell, Tenacity of the Monarchs. If I reveal a monster with 2400 ATK & 1000 DEF, or 2800 ATK & 1000 DEF, I can add a Monarch spell or trap from my deck to my hand."

Revealing Ehther from his hand, he searches and gets Domain of the Monarchs to his hand, showing it to Pegasus.

"I'll play the spell that I just got, Domain of the Monarchs."

Upon placing the card down, the area starts to darken and mist appeared out of this air. Monarch cards were bowing towards him, surrounding the dueling stations as he continued.

"I'll then use Pot of Greed to draw another 2 cards!"

This card is so cheap, but he has to use it or else he would give up his turn without summoning anything.

Drawing another 2 cards, he sighed in relief as he drew Edea the Heavenly Squire and another Pot of Greed. Finally, a card that he could summon.

"I'll normal summon Edea the Heavenly Squire (800/1000) in face up Defense Position!"

With a glow of white, Edea appeared in her golden and yellow armor with her cape fluttering from a sudden wind.

"Her effect activates upon summoning, which lets me special summon 1 monster with 800 ATK and 1000 DEF from my deck in Defense Position."

Taking his deck, he thumbs it out until he finds his target. Adding it to his hand, he shuffles the deck quickly before summoning it to the field in Defense Position.

"I special summon Eidos the Underworld Squire (800/1000)!"

In another glow of white, Eidos appeared menacingly, his armor black and gray in contrast to Edea.

"When he is summoned, I can tribute summon 1 card along with my normal summon or set card."

"Yusou-boyya, I think I should add a timer limit for each turn."

Pegasus joked as he chuckled.

"Sorry."

Ken apologized for the amount of time used with a sheepish smile. His combos take a while to snowball after all.

"No, no, I am impressed that you could do such a thing with this deck. Such possibilities, seeing it face to face makes me so happy."

He said with a gentle smile.

"Oh, continue on please."

Now a little embarrassed, Ken quickly glanced at his hand once more.

"I will tribute Edea to summon Angmarl the Fiendish Monarch."

Edea on the field dissipates into white light before the particles converged to reveal the dark fiendish monarch.

"When I tribute summon Angmarl, I can banish 1 spell card from my GY, and add 1 card with the same name as the banished spell card from my deck to my hand.

I banish Pot of Greed to get another Pot of Greed."

Adding Pot of Greed onto his hand after he banishes the GY's Pot of Greed, he continued to do his final part of his combo.

"Then, I'll activate Edea's second effect! If she is sent to the GY, I can add one banished card to my hand. I choose Pot of Greed!"

Taking the final Pot of Greed to his hand, he sets two face downs before ending his turn.

He now had 3 Pot of Greeds, Ehther, and an extra card in his hand, two face downs, and two monsters on the field.

Heh, try and break this board, Pegasus.
