CHAPTER 72

-

A/N:

OK, I've decided on the upgrade for Gohru. In fact, I feel like I've found the best upgrade that matches with his fighting style.

Thanks for the votes, but it will be a Transformation Quirk.

Here's a flavor text of the Quirk upgrade, I'm going to give a hint anyways when the time comes. To anyone who gets it, please don't spoil it in the comments! (Maybe just give an "Ahhh..." or "Aha, I get it!".)

-

Don't Melt in the World,

Find Your One Way!

-

Rolling his shoulder, Gohru took a second to look at his next opponent, Iida.

It was going to be a complete wash, no doubts, he would destroy Iida even with Respiro Burst with his own speed abilities, but he at least wanted to make them "popular".

So, he was going to just stand there and let Iida do his thing until he got bored.

-

Jin Gohru

Level: 18

Battle Power: 187

-

Iida Tenya

Level: 10

Battle Power: 106

-

"Right! The stage had some refurbishing to do, but now it's time for the next match of the second round to begin!

Introducing, the Fast and the Furious! Iida Tenya!

Versus!

The Martial Arts Prodigy, Jin Gohru!"

Cracking his neck, he watched as Iida tensed his whole body up, ready for anything while just waiting for Midnight to say the "go".

"Ready? ... GO!"

As soon as the match begun, Iida started running towards him with his Quirk boosting his speed.

Iida had explained it a while ago, his Quirk was similar to a car's with gears. Right now he has 3 gears that he could shift at any time.

From the speed that he was going, Gohru suspects that he had already shifted to the second in just a second. Not bad.

In just under 2 seconds, Iida had reached into his 5-meter range when he was about 50 meters away. That caused some commotion in the commentator's box.

"What?! Wait, that speed! Iida is already near Jin in just under 2 seconds!"

Seeing his left shoulder drop and his right leg raising, Gohru moved in succession.

WHOOSH!

With Respiro Burst, Iida swung a roundhouse kick at his head, in which he blocked it by raising his arm to meet the leg before redirecting it to the side.

Ssamsu Taekkyeon: Block and Deflect.

Clenching his fist, he swung a quick jab at Iida's jaw.

POW!

His head turned from the attack before suddenly Iida's body twisted, continuing his attack and using the previous attack's momentum to spin and deliver a reverse low sweeping kick with his other leg.

Jumping to dodge the sweeping kick, he had a second to see the leg with Respiro Burst coming at him

Rokushiki: Geppo.

Using his leg power alone, he pushes himself off the air itself and dodges the kick before landing on the ground a distance from Iida.

'It had been just 4 seconds. That means that he still has 6 more — '

That was when he felt it again. The feeling of his strength leaking out of his body. The debuff has finally come.

Quickly, he looked up at Denji before signaling him with a finger circling above his head. Denji whose expression changed, immediately stood up from his seat before looking around the place.

Honestly speaking, it would be impossible to even find the person, but the chances were still there. Denji would have to just look harder for anything suspicious. He trusts Denji's instincts.

Focusing back into the fight, he breathes out before getting into a stance. He had to delay the fight as long as he could until either he could find a way to remove it or when Denji finds the person responsible.

Thinking of a way, Gohru slams his foot onto the floor, causing the surrounding ground to shatter and explode from the force exerted, with dust and debris rising from the ground to essentially create a smokescreen.

Feeling the debuff dispel confirms his suspicions. It was a sight-based emitter Quirk.

'Oh, thank god.'

If it was another way to home onto him, he would be fucked. At least if it’s sight-based, it would be much easier to fight against.

While the smokescreen was still up, Gohru decided to end the fight since he could feel Iida run into the smoke with his remaining few seconds of Respiro Burst.

Waiting for the boy to come closer, Gohru focused as he extended all fingers before hardening his right hand with Tekkai.

Rokushiki: Tekkai.

Feeling the footsteps coming closer and closer, he waited until Iida came bursting out of the smoke with Respiro Burst in midair with his leg cocked back. Breathing in deeply, he visualized his biceps, triceps, and shoulder muscles moving in sync, generating the power needed to perform the technique before swinging.

Rokushiki: Shugan [Degraded].

(A/N:

Previously, it was Jin Gohru Original: Spear of the Heavenly Dragon, but I decided to just make it a normal move. And [Degraded] means that it is a WHOLE LESS LETHAL than the actual skill.)

This was the alternate version of the Rokushiki's Shigan, but instead of just using one finger, he used every finger of the hand.

Before the kick could even be launched, Iida's stomach gets caved in from the Shugan, causing him to get sent back flying from the amount of force Gohru accidentally put in.

To be frank, Shugan or Shigan is designed to kill by hitting one's major blood vessels or vital areas, so controlling it was harder than it looked.

Hearing Iida fall to the ground, the smoke dispersed as he could finally see Iida coughing out saliva. Uh oh, he seemed to have not hold back a lot at all. Shit.

Slowly but surely, Iida rose up from the ground with a hand on his stomach. His breathing was rather heavy, and he could see that his focus was waning.

Was a Shugan overkill?

Deciding to just stop the match, he used a Renewal Taekwondo: Bo-Bup to dash behind Iida, appearing to teleport for those with untrained eyes before knocking him out with a neck chop.

Mind you, he actually learned how to do it with research! After all, what kind of overpowered person would he be if he didn't learn the legendary "Go to Sleep" strike?!

Iida, without knowing it, drops to the ground unconscious as Midnight announces the result.

"Iida has fallen unconscious! The winner is Jin!"

Ashido was stretching her legs on the stage while Denji just stood there watching her stretch. It was their turn to fight now.

-

Uraraka Denji

Level: 16

Battle Power: 165

-

Ashido Mina

Level: 9

Battle Power: 93

-

"Next match's finally here! Introducing the Gravity Controlling Powerhouse, Uraraka Denji!

Versus!

The quick and swift Alien Girl! Ashido Mina!"

Taking a deep breath, Denji dragged his leg back before getting into a stance. With a grin, Ashido starts to bounce as Midnight starts the fight.

"Get ready... Start!"

The moment she blinks, Denji was already at her face. With wide eyes, she retaliated with a veil of acid from her hands by swinging it in front of her, but Denji just casually changes directions with 3D Maneuver, turning a sharp 90° before appearing behind her.

"Sorry bout this, Ashido."

He grabs her by her sports uniform before using 3D Maneuver once more to fly towards the edge of the stadium before dropping her out of bounds. All in just under 3 seconds.

She couldn't even respond to his speed, causing her to blink in confusion before shouting a "Hey!" at him.

"I'm sorry, Ashido."

At least he apologized.

"... You owe me a date!"

He just looked at her dumbstruck at her words before she grins and casually flips her hair, walking back to the stadium.

He just stood at his spot with confusion in his face before slumping his shoulders.

... Shit was weird.
