CHAPTER 34

With a sigh of relief, Gohru relaxes his body once he sees his family in one piece.

"G-Gohru!"

"Hmm? Just let me be for a while, Toga."

He mutters into her left ear before gently blowing it, making her squeal as he swore he could see steam exit her ears from embarrassment.

He was behind Toga, with her on his lap as he played with her fingers with his. Resting his head on her shoulder, he sighs again as Dabi looked at Gohru as if he had just killed his pet or something while Buba had already fainted from shock.

"The fuck did you hallucinate to do... this?"

"Stuff that made me think about my current lifestyle."

And it was true. After seeing the horrors, he thought to himself.

Is it actually that easy to die? With how easy it was for his life to flicker away, has his life so far been worth it? Did he even live his life out to the fullest?

The answer was simple. Fuck no. He didn't live it out to the absolute fullest.

Things have been difficult for him for as long as he can remember. They were difficult when he was at the orphanage with limited food and time to do what he wanted, they were difficult when he had to deal with the money issue of the orphanage, and they are difficult now, with his paranoia of All for One scooping his family away.

He wouldn't stay satisfied with the fake promises that life had offered to him. And so, he worked hard, 10 to 12 hours a day in training for 8 damn years straight without any breaks to climb higher in life and not settle with the sorry excuse he had gotten for a life.

With that type of lifestyle, he wondered. He had never really done "ordinary" things before, in both lives in fact, like enjoying a day off without thinking about the future or even dating a girl, more yet fancying one before.

That's why after the tournament he decided to take a little break. To have a little taste of what could be a simple life, like enjoying school with friends, to find out what he would enjoy doing, and to have some things to look forward to.

So that when he gets back to training mode again, he would know exactly what was at stake.

... Maybe giving Toga a chance too, who knows.

But this was plans after the tournament. Now, he was going to train after a few more minutes. He was sure that Kenichi will win against Captain Celebrity, without a doubt in his mind.

After all, it was he who completed the full techniques of Ssamsu Taekkyeon, instead of him. He just gave him bits of information that he remembered from GOH, and Kenichi made it a reality.

If the Rokushiki took 3 years to train the basics, it only took him 6 months. And while he was struggling to remake Ssamsu Taekkyeon from memory, Kenichi perfected it in a year along with creating new techniques for the martial art.

He was the pinnacle of a combat genius, his potential was astounding.

He was 100% going to win against Captain Celebrity, and Gohru is going to give him a fight.

In theory, Project: Original should be feasible, but multiple errors still were appearing, but Gohru had one day to perfect it to increase his odds of winning.

Time for hard work to surpass geniuses once more, he guessed.

The Next Day...

And sure enough, Kenichi won against Captain Celebrity. He didn't watch his fight at all, but from what Toga was saying, he finished him off with a Jin HwechookHurricane.

Cracking his fingers, he took a deep breath of air.

He trained the whole night with no sleep at all. Project: Original was almost perfected. There were still some margins of error, but fuck it. He'll deal with it on the field.

Walking to the stage, he only had a single feeling in his heart, every other emotion was shoved away, and his mind turned to steel as only one feeling was allowed to enter.

Determination. Burning determination.

He stared at Kenichi's eyes, which were too burning with determination. Getting into their respective stances, they waited for the announcer to start the match.

Renewal Taekwondo: Basic Stance.

Ssamsu Taekkyeon: Basic Stance.

"WELCOMEEEEE TO THE FINALS OF THE WORLD! MARTIAL! ARTS! TOURNAMENT!!!"

He yells into the mic with charisma as the crowd around them exploded with cheers. There were twice as many people as yesterday, and they were split roughly evenly with one side wearing black and red while the other wore white and blue clothing, symbolizing the participants that they choose to cheer for.

"ITS FINALLY THE FINALS, SO I WON'T DRAG THIS LONGER THAN IT SHOULD!"

"ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ARENA! THE YOUNGEST PARTICIPANT TO ENTER THE FINALS, JIN GOHRU!"

"ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ARENA! THE GENIUS WHO HAD DEFEATED BOTH UPCOMING AND HIGH-RANKING HEROES, HIROSE KENICHI!"

"THIS MATCH WOULD BE A WONDER TO WATCH! NOW WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, LET! THE! MATCH!"

"BEGIN!"
