A good way to describe this season is it's the summer blockbuster season which is appropriate given that it is set during the summer! Also, if you needed any help on the timeline of things, season 1 happened in November of 1983, season 2 happened in October/November of 1984, and this season takes place in July of 1985. Also, sadly, Mike's attitude at the end there is very much how boys that age act. To be blunt, we can be little assholes as we push to see how far we can take it with certain adults. Mike's been through and seen a lot, so it does make sense that he'd have a bit of an ego and he found out where the line is with Hopper.
