Arcadian Dreams (Ch. 2) (Patreon)

Another update to the saga of Sasha Teeg and his Arcadian Dreams!

In this chapter, Sasha gets a bit more accustomed with his day-to-day on Arcadia. After all, it can't just be feasts and harems of phantom nymphs! After waking up in his personal "suite" in Arcadia, Sasha meets his Arcadian "companion," who absolutely hates being called a "guard." Doesn't fit the Arcadian branding at all! Lucia's job is to make sure that Sasha gets used to life on Arcadia, and that means showing him what a good time he's going to have if he can just relax and go with the flow! For most guys, this would be a dream come true, but Sasha's a bit warier of Lucia than most guys.

Something that I'm learning pretty quickly as I write Arcadian Dreams is that Actual Authors have a really fucking hard job. I'm really used to just writing one-shot stories, but I'm just now realizing that everything I slap down on the table of my narrative here is a loaded gun, and it will have to go off by the end of the story if I want to maintain the fragile veneer of professionalism I've tried to cultivate. In the context of this plot specifically, I can't just throw in whatever I want because I think it'd be hot. Everything I introduce here is a Problem that Sasha will eventually have to Solve, and that's already influenced a fair few decisions I've made with some plot elements.

This chapter introduces a device meant to "dazzle" someone. I was talking with my pal GigglingGoblin the other day about how a lot of the time it seems to be the women in media who get hypnotized by being "zapped" by some kind of hypno-beam or other hypnotic objects. Men seem to get kisses or fall for sirens' songs or some other method related to feminine wiles. I thought that was interesting to think about, and I wanted to kind of play with that expectation! Just a peek behind the author's desk.

As for problems I have with this chapter, I'm kind of upset that Sasha hasn't had a chance to play off of anyone he can actually talk to. Due to his circumstances (which a few readers seem to have already figured out Exactly), he's justifiably cagey about interacting with just about everyone he's met thus far...which makes him seem kind of dull as a character. I'm working on fixing that next chapter, so I can only hope that the Hot Hypnosis and Seduction is enough to tide you guys over until then.
