Redraw 2023 | Remorian (Patreon)

Remorian is a character I created a long time ago, as a member of a race of divine sphinx-like beings. Originally this was fanon content for Dark Souls 3 🤭 but they have since outgrown their original trappings and become their own gestalt lore.

But more on that in the future ✨

For now, let us contemplate the ways we will explore Remorian's development.

The Mask
The sphinx race are largely an artificial species, created by affixing a mask imbued with powerful magics to the faces of other beings. Over time, this artifact's effect will transform the wearer into a new sphinx, who will then go on to join her new society of order, law, and justice.

Not all sphinx are created, but to be natural born is a true miracle. Every natural pregnancy and birth of sphinx are had by the Matron Mayat, the mother goddess of the species and the single fertile womb. Theses exceedingly rare natural births are the only process by which a male-morph can enter the world, as all created sphinx are rendered female by the transformative magics of their masks. 

These born sphinx come into the world with their own masks already attached, which will grow with them as they age. Though often composed of porcelain, metals, and even wood, the masks of sphinx are fully animated, able to express the full range of emotional expressions and produce human speech. 

The Redesign
Remorian, as a precious cockerel, comes into the world with a mask of gold that features notably masculine traits. In the redraw, I've exaggerated those masculine features to further express his status as a coveted male!

Each male born can look forward to a life of luxury and wealth, as even barren hens will pay handsome prices for his attentions. Gifts of jewelry and finery are common, and Remorian's style is to wear these pretty things whenever he plans to be in public.
