Hello all, happy Friday, or more importantly to those of you of you who are Jewish, Happy Rosh Hashanah.  Here is September’s large story poll results and my comments on the latest round of questions.

Without any fanfare, Magic won. Like hardcore won, in relation to past polls. Horse for the Force only brought in 67 votes over on fanfic and had a total of 2,274.  Magic of the Force brought in 253 on fanfic, and had a whopping total of 2,783. Wow.

And before anyone asks, that was WITHOUT my votes.  Which leaves me with a lot of votes to either use on the next Addventure homage poll, or I can wait and fold 250 of them into my votes for next month.  Perhaps then we can get Semblance if Hope updated too.  Although it will be going against FILFy Teacher so... we will have to see.

With that being said, on to my response to the latest round of questions:

isn’t his skill set. And you’re correct.  He doesn’t have the two sealed techniques in this, and he isn’t the most subtle person in the world LOL.  So while he is going to be involved in stomping on Muozinel’s armed forces, I will not have him going on a one man crusade into Muozinel.  Assassination of key governmental figures is still on the table though…

For FILFy Teacher:

1. everyone who mentioned this at all mentioned a young man, called Dulio Gesualdo.  Thank you Derek Nelson and JBstormburstADV for this one.  As such, if I go forward with the idea of the church reaching out and sending a representative to basically make peace with Harry and company Asia, who may have her name of Holy Maiden returned to her, it will be young Dulio.

Of course, there was also the mention of Vasco Strada, by Kariston Draconis. He sounds like a fascinating character, but also one that would make more sense to introduce in Gods and Devils and Wild Horses, Oh My rather than FILFy Teacher.

2. While my question on Egyptian mythology didn’t come up with anyone who said they were an expert on it, I figure that if you pile enough dabblers onto one another, you’ll get the right answer eventually LOL.

3. However, my question about Egyptian life was actually incredibly well answered by Novus. So well in fact, that I took an entire day off from working on Remodel in order to outline the start of the Egyptian chapter for FILFy . Thank you Novus, for your in-depth answers to my questions on that point. It was a great help. Even if you don’t actually rot read FILFy Teacher LOL

Secondly, thank you all for your participation in the latest round of questions. Not all of you participated of course, but more than enough did to give me an idea of the answers to my questions and where to take my stories from here.

First of all the easiest:

Sword, Bow, and Horse

1. Not everyone had picked up on the idea of steampunk stuff beginning as I have Valentina look into gunpowder and muskets. Excellent. I now wish I hadn’t asked that question, so it could come as a surprise LOL.  Hopefully when it comes to it, you all will enjoy a how I go about introducing that element.

2. It looks as if everyone is of the same opinion that Thenardier should be a threat, but not on the level of Roland.  Lots of people think he should be a glass cannon, able to do damage but not take it. I am uncertain who is going to end up dealing with him in the long run, but I have never liked the fact that canon basically devolved into a one-on-one contest of champions. I understand why in Japan that kind of thing is still a major part of their culture LOL. It  does not mean that it would make sense for a general to put himself in that position, not if he had any chance of still winning. Admittedly, I am uncertain if in canon Thenardier really did have it a ability to win at that point, having lost his top general and all of his dragons. But since this isn’t canon, who knows?

3. This was a trickier question. Several people would love to see Ranma go on a one person crusade and use espionage and trickery. But Many of you also pointed out that isn’t his skill set. And you’re correct. He doesn’t have the two sealed techniques in this, and he isn’t the most subtle person in the world LOL. So while he is going to be involved in stomping on Muozinel’s armed forces, I will not have him going on a one man crusade into Muozinel. Segueing nicely into Gods and Devils and Wild Horses, Oh My:

1. people brought up a point that I have not thought about for a long while: having a rival for Ranma that he could hold himself up to that was better than him when they initially meet. I’ve introduced enemies like that in a few stories, but not friendly rivals.  Thank you to justlovereadin, AR, Delphinous, Kariston Draconis and the rest of you who mentioned this idea. I honestly had not looked at it from the stronger rival perspective, and that was just great.

This has fueled my desire to add in Sairaorg early, and I will do so it in about two chapters I think. I also liked the fact that everyone seems to be interested in the Kasumi Sairaorg matchup, that warmed the cockles of my writer’s heart. Even if a few of you can’t see it. It will be a very slow pairing, with lots of blushes and subtle flirting, but I rather like the idea of Kasumi being interested in a man and making the first moves to show that she is interested if not to push for anything.

2. Now the mythologies were interesting. Astonishingly enough, a lot of people mentioned South American mythologies, Aztec, Incan, and Mayan. I had already had a vague idea of introducing Incan to the scenario, but to see everyone else be interested in these mythologies has hardened that idea into a certainty. I wish to give a shout out to those of you who mentioned that: AR, Kariston Draconis, Delphinous, Hiryo and MinotaurKing.

I also decided that if I’m going to introduce Greek Roman gods in the future, I will use the Roman mythos rather than the Greek. This way, Icarus, I can use your friend as a resource once removed LOL.

A few of you also evinced interest in Japanese mythology, like Tomon. Don’t worry. Japanese mythology is going to be the source of at least three short chapters worth of adventures after the events in the next two. Saeko is really going to shine in those episodes, along with Akeno.

3. The question about Chinese mythology was kind of answered as well. There are several Chinese characters or characters I should say who were originally from Chinese mythology. But almost all of them have been co-opted by Buddhism. That wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted purely Chinese characters, characters who I could, say have their descendants show up, or their weapons and so forth that stayed in China and were Taoists or Confucianists when Ranma and co. start traveling the world, interacting with various mythologies.  Still, this way at least the Ren idea could work… still debating on if I want to go there if I also make Koneko a romantic interest. We’ll see.

And Finally we have the Fate Touched romance question.

I was honestly astonished. Almost everyone who mentioned this question was in favor of Harry/Tauriel. So that is a lock.

There were a few, like Scott and Sisyphus, who were worried that it would impact how Harry spends his time during the intervening decades between the end of the Hobbit and the start of the Fellowship era, not wanting him to spend his time in the Elven lands. While doing so will be nice for time skips, have no concerns That Harry will just retreat into the Elven lands for decades on end to be with Tauriel. While there will be sexy times and flirting, in this fic the romance will distinctly be a side show. It will not drive the story like several of my other works. That being said, I wager I will at least surprise a few of you with the long term changes to the Tolkien universe I will create in the future…

Once more, thank you all for your help in answering these questions, and I hope you all continue to enjoy my stories going forward.

I did mention that there were other questions I wanted opinions on, but I will wait to post them until after Fate Touched is sent off for editting.
