March Large Story Poll Results and other points. (Patreon)

Alright, everybody, It is past time to close down the Large Story Poll. I have gotten Horse back from Hiryo and sent it out to a new editor who should have it back to me in time for a Saturday update. I have also finished Making Waves – did so late Saturday/Early Sunday – and it is off to Justlovereadin’ who I have to assume is tearing it apart given how much I had to make up about the Wizard Saints in question LOL. Still, it will be up on Saturday too. 

However, my worries about finishing FILFy in enough time to get it off to an editor has proven itself out. I am still not done it – about two/thirds, and I don’t think I will be able to finish it by Thursday. That is not enough time for Nad Destroyer to look it over for me. However I think I can post a Fate Touched chapter as I said I might for the simple reason that I had half of it written but not edited for the last chapter, and the total chapter will also be shorter (again the difference is between 15,000 to 25,000 plus words). So I will switch gears and work on that, getting an unedited (well besides me and Grammarly) chapter up by Saturday too. FILFy will instead be posted in March, but it will be edited and looked over when it is.

I wish to also take this time to thank everyone who has joined up in February and who took part in the recent question/discussion thread. The first has made this past month one of the best I’ve had for gaining new members, and I hope that all of you continue to enjoy my works, both patron only and over on fanfic.

For the second, you all helped crystalize several points going forward for me.  

In terms of Patron stuff, most of you feel that the rotation for the Patron only poll works, which is precisely what I wanted to see. I saw a few complaints about the slowness of the site, which I can’t really do much about. I will be doing what I can – posting a new Patron Only Works So Far thread, merging the chapters of my stories into single documents, and going back and deleting older posts, which I hope will speed things up either today or tomorrow.  Although if it will work is anyone’s guess.

A few also expressed concerns about the number of stories in comparison to the number which have been finished. Yet in that, reality hasn’t changed. A semblance of Hope and Anything Goes Game Changer are still the stories that are closest to being finished. Seven to eight chapters for Semblance and four for AGGC.  

But they just don’t get the votes the other stories do. I have hopes that my rotation plan for the small story poll will speed up their updates, but that is all I can do there unless I choose to remove the small story poll and just concentrate on AGGC until it’s finished, which I don’t want to do for obvious reasons.

My GDWHOM question seems to have been a wash. Those of you who gave your opinion were split on the Xenovia/Irina question, so we’ll see how it goes.

Generally speaking, everyone seemed to be in agreement with me on the 666 question for FILFY. The canon arc dealing with it and Trihexia itself is unnecessary, boring and very much RARGH POWER UP DBZ style. So it won’t appear in my stories. Mummies will when I get to Egypt, but won’t be main enemy type, merely a byproduct of what’s actually going on. A few asked for Indiana Jones style adventurers, which I had already planned for, and one person mentioned O'Connell and the Medjai. I can see using O’Connell as a character (if with a different background) and the Medjai too if only in passing.

For my two Bhaalson Remodel questions, most people didn’t seem to have an opinion here, but those who did felt the idea of boss battles was a good one. Delphinous also commented on the idea of a pause button, giving the suggestion of Harry being able to pause himself and take things in, but not being able to interact with the world around him or give out commands. That is an idea I will run with and expand on and should work quite well in the future.

For the Stallion discussion, several people had some interesting points. Tomon talked about it extensively, while Hiryo gave me a few fan-based resources about people’s thoughts on the Awakening concept. Alamar Xandal mentioned that Robin must have awakened during the time skip, a thought I agree with after thinking about it – she went from creating arms and other limbs to whole body doubles and doing so quickly without any buildup, along with larger attacks. 

But Cade Carruth really blew my mind with his comment on this topic: That when Awakening the user seems to go from using the Devil Fruit in a mechanical manner which makes logical sense to using it in a conceptual manner after Awakening, the power growing to include anything the user can broadly connect to his or her powers. This is an amazing idea and will shape my thoughts on Awakening going forward in the future.

I also really liked the line Awakening is Bullshit Squared. 

And now that I have bored you all with that LOL it is time to get to what you all are here to see: the winner of the Long Story Poll. 

The battle was close, for a time, but the winner became clear soon enough, with ATP beating out Magic. The votes, without me taking part, were 2,572 to 2,226. That means that in April the poll will once more be between my SW fics.  I will post it once Horse has been updated.
