Okay everybody, I realize I’ve been kind of out of contact since announcing the winners of the monthly poll save for that story concept My Hero Academia/One Piece idea I posted. I’d apologize, but in that time I’ve written more than 70,000 words – 63,000 of which is the next Magic chapter.  Hopefully by the time I turn in tonight it will be done and off to my editors. The rest was the outline for Anything Goes Game Changer and Semblance. I think I will be able to get it and Semblance done, and I started working on Semblance today (it’s the shorter of the two so editing Magic and writing out Semblance on DNS is going to be the best use of my time due to driving a lot today).

Anyway, to apologize for not responding as I normally would to your responses to the last story concept and the FILFy stuff I asked about, I give you… two more story concepts! … Yes, I am using writing these out to give myself a break from rereading the political bits of Magic. I’m not sorry.

These aren’t among the ones I thought I’d post.  I have a bare idea of the Claymore/Ranma one, but I want to let it bounce around in the mad 13th dimensional funhouse that is my brain for a bit before sharing it. Both these are Ranma/MHA crosses, since, in my tiny bit of free time (red lights are good for something when I'm not using my DNS) I’ve been on a My Hero Academia binge. I’ve taken on board some of the comments people made about my original idea in this direction, and hope you enjoy them. The first is a bit sparser than normal, but hey, see the above number of words written LOL.

So here they go!

First,

Any Sufficiently Advanced Skill is Indistinguishable from…

An exhausted Ranma has just beaten Saffron, freeing Akane and their other friends, turning Akane back to normal and freeing his other friends from the mind controlling magic of his surikomi eggs. He’s also mostly destroyed a mountain, but he is a little too out of it to care, and just collapses right where he is. Akane is also out of it, and neither notice that the nearby Gekkaja has been damaged, until it, and the area around it start to freeze, ice shooting out of it as if it had just birthed a glacier, the ice expanding as fast as a running man could cover the distance.

Akane doesn’t fight as Ryoga picks her up and carries her off, and neither Mousse nor Shampoo are near enough to get to Ranma before the ice has him completely trapped within it. Ranma was too exhausted to even notice he was cold until the ice had completely incased him within it. Worse for the Nerimans, the only thing that could possibly melt the ice, the Kinjakan, is within the ice already, as is much of the rest of the mountain and many within. Saffron’s egg and all of the other eggs of their people are trapped within, leaving only Kiima and a few survivors.

Shampoo and Mousse ask the Amazons for aid, but no matter what they try, the ice of the broken Gekkaja is too strong to overcome, and the ice keeps expanding. It stops just short of the pools at Jusenkyo, and completely buries the former Phoenix Tribe territory along with some belonging to the Musk. No matter what they do, none of them, not even Herb, can break through the ice to get Ranma out. The only thing to do is wait until the Gekkaja runs out of juice, and that could take thousands of years, given the strength of the magical artifact.

Fast forward two hundred years, and the sight is being studied by Scientists from I-Island who are utterly bemused by the fact there’s a glacier smack dab in the Byakkala Range that shows no sign of melting. They discover the center of the area, and then use scientific means to discover that there might be some kind of ancient Neanderthal or something similar frozen inside it, and that the area around one specific area is colder than anywhere else. They then use lasers and fire/laser using Quirks to try and cut down to the person they think was frozen to death. Imagine their surprise when he bursts out of his ice, and attacks them before collapsing shouting at them about how he’d never let someone called Herb beat him…

Things this will contain:

1. Out-of-his-time Ranma. Obviously. Ranma comes from a time when computers were things geeks used at school and maybe other businesses, and cell phones were for the rich. He’s also from a time before Quirks appeared.

a. Ranma will be mildly freaked by the amount of tech everywhere. He will have a lot of ‘wha…’ moments with it, and in particular computers and medical technology.

b. Quirks will interest him a lot, but he isn’t going to be a fan of the whole hero mentality, seeing that as sort of silly at best.

c. The fact he has no Quirk but has all his abilities and skills will FREAK a lot of the scientific community out. Quirks have long been thought of as the next stage in evolution. Now, they aren’t so certain.

2. Give No Shits Ranma. He’s been frozen for two hundred years and everyone he knows is dead (or so he thinks) and was never all that enamored of authority. He is going to tell it like he sees it and is not going to care about anyone else opinions. He will also just like to pick fights with people he thinks have fun Quirks.

3. Bizarre occurrences galore. A group of ivory tower types came to study a glacier along with a dozen hero types. Near Jusenkyo. ‘Nuff said. This will include magic making a comeback, the Musk people under a descendent of Herb and someone else to be revealed later, and Jusenkyo gleefully cursing all and sundry.

4. A bit of Angst. Sad to say but it will be unavoidable. After all, Ranma was stuck in there for two hundred years and (nearly) everyone he knows is dead.

5. Rivalry with Endeavor and Shoto. They will have been among the heroes Ranma will have attacked upon being broken out of the ice. Endeavor will hate him for getting his ass kicked by Ranma, while Shoto will see him as a rival, thinking that if he can overcome Ranma, he might have a chance to beat his old man and then become the number one hero

6. Alive Happosai. He’s the only one who is still alive from the old days, able to use external sources to rejuvenate his ki, unlike everyone else. None of the younger set learned enough about ki to survive. He’s become a bit of an urban legend around the world, never staying in one place for long. However, he has turned over a new leaf, sort of…

7. World Building! – Ranma isn’t about to be stuck in a school, instead he will want to see the world, get used to all the changes, and check up on old friends and enemies, or at least their families anyway.

a. Trainer Ranma. This will lead Ranma to interacting with some of the MHA regular cast. Not all of them though, but a few

b. To get money for his travels Ranma will work with I-Island as a security consultant and With David Shield in an attempt to heal All Might. This will have a marked effect on All Might, but not enough to fully heal him.

c. Other Heroes. Ranma will be interacting with a lot of different heroes that have been mentioned but not delved into in canon.

8. Slow dive. The first few arcs of the story will center on Ranma and I-Island then he will be introduced to the rest of MHA slowly, culminating in the events of the MHA movie. But Ranma will not stay with the rest of the kids, and this story will center on him and his interactions with the wider world.

9. Romance. A bit of this, though when it comes to girls, this Ranma is going to be more Original Ranma in his mannerisms and the way he interacts with people than most of the Ranma’s I’ve created over the years.  The pairing will be Ranma/Melissa. It will be slow, and it will eventually be one of those ‘oh, that’s what I’m feeling’ sort of things on Ranma’s side, but this will be the main pairing in this work. There will be a lot of comedy, drama and ups and downs but after that first ‘oh’ moment, Ranma will try to make it work. Other girls and more than a few women will be after Ranma, but he will turn them all down. Maybe. I just found an image of Miruko… mmmm…. Rabbit…

And now for something both more on the humorous side of things and based on an idea that is almost quintessentially Ranma. Seriously, can’t believe I didn’t think of this one first.

Accidentally Plus Ultra

The battle was hard, unrelating, immovable object against unstoppable force, a meeting of natural forces and mentalities that knew the world wasn’t big enough for them both. All For One vs One For all. All Might against the man who had been ruling most of Japan from the shadows, taking quirks from people and destroying them on himself or his followers, growing an army. But he, for no one knew his real name, had miscalculated. Even All Might, the most powerful hero the world had ever seen, would have never been able to take All For One on at the head of his empire. But he had come out of hiding, moving into China to take over the Chinese Criminal Underground. All Might had taken his chance the instant he had heard of it thanks ot the insane information his sidekick, David Shield, had created.

The fight had been going on for more than an hour, and All Might had pushed the criminal out of Beijing, a move intended to let All Might use more of his power to finally end this menace to humanity once and for all. But All For One doesn’t go down easy, and the fight moves across the Chinese landscape tearing it up hugely. All might takes numerous wounds, and at one point finds himself flattened as All For One has Gigantomachia, who was nearby, join the fight. Between them, the two villains start to overwhelm All Might.

Nearby, Ranma and Genma are making their way through China, not having eaten for several days thanks to Shampoo’s chase of them. They stop however as they see the battle going on between All Might, who even they have heard of, and this unknown but seemingly immensely powerful villains. Genma is all for running, but, as in canon, he’s done a bit too good a job with teaching Ranma about how those who pursue the Art are supposed to help others. Ranma races forward, interrupting Gigantomachia from nailing All Might with a blow that might have ended the fight, taunting him with everything he can think of as he climbs the guy like he’s a tree. All Might watches this in shock, then shouts at Ranma to get away, but Ranma ignores them, shouting how a real Martial Artist would never turn his back on someone who needed his help.

All For One attacks, nearly killing Ranma, but finds he is unable to take the youth’s quirk. This gives All Might an opening, and he knocks Gigantomachia out, before pressing AFO. He is startled to see Ranma getting up from an attack that should have killed him, bloody but still willing to fight. That surprise costs him as he is smashed through a restaurant on a cliff, his face and scalp getting cut up in the process. He defends a group of bystanders, oddly all bald men, but is hurt in the process so much that All For one might have won, All Might’s life flashing through his eyes. Then he is saved once more by Ranma leaping on his back, punching a bit of metal pipe into his eye. Ranma is thrown off, but this gives All Might the time to end the fight, blowing AFO away.

Later, after thanking the brutally wounded Ranma for his help and admonishing him at the same time, All might, who is even more badly injured than in canon {Come on, if AFO had Gigantomachia with him against All Might even at full power the fight would have been harder than in canon, it’s that simple), leaves Ranma there to be looked after by Genma and the restaurant goers, thinking that, if it ever came to it and he had to pass on OFA, Ranma might be a perfect candidate.

The next day a somewhat healed Ranma (Ranma: “Ki healing for the win! Who’da thunk that my old man breaking my bones so often would have an upside eventually?”} stops a bald customer, one of the people All Migth had saved, from running out with some kind of porridge. Feeling hungry himself, Ranma takes his payment in the form of the porridge to the horror of both the cooks and the thief. They tell him of the tail of the Dragon Whisker, only to watch as nothing happens. “Huh, wrong hair then.”

Back in Japan, All might is leading the cleanup operations against AFO’s organization, but he is weaker, far weaker than even his wounds should have made him. He has Sir NightEye, David Shield and Recovery Girl look him over and they realize that One For All has passed on.  After getting over their horror, he tells them about the brave, seemingly Quirkless boy who helped him take down AFO. But he is very confused how even with his thinking that at the time and since that the boy would make a great successor that the power is gone. They keep searching for other ways the Quirk might have been somehow blocked or snuffed out within him, while also looking for a Ranma Saotome and not having a lot of luck. He has a birth certificate, and that’s it, not even any school records on computer, since it isn’t actually enforced by law that they have to be on computer.

Unfortunately for the world, AFO has a slow regeneration Quirk, which keeps his body alive despite missing everything from the waist down. And Gigantomachia isn’t the only one of his old servants who was in China with him.

A few weeks pass… “Man Oyaji, that was easy!!! I think I’m finally getting this whole ki thing down now.  It only took me what, a day to swim from China to Ryukyu? That’s gotta be some kind of record.”

Things this fic will include:

1. World merging - Quirks aren’t nearly as common as they are in canon – only about forty percent of the population, but it’s rising and a few of the characters from Ranma canon will have them. Wont tell you who yet. I will also merge a few characters.

a. I want to use characters I don’t normally from Ranma canon – so characters from the movies, the two wandering Tendo sisters, and more

b. When I say world merging I mean it. Soun will be a retired hero who opened up a dojo, Genma a retired villain turned martial artist, Ukyo’s mother will be revealed as a pro heroine and Itsuka Kendo will be Itsuka Tendo, replacing Akane utterly. That’s right there will be no Akane in this story at all.  Itsuka also embodies a real martial artist’s ethos a lot better than Akane ever did. She and Nabiki will not get along very well, but Itsuka will idolize Kasumi, who, while Quirkless, doesn’t hold Itsuka’s Quirk against her, and looked after Itsuka and Nabiki almost entirely on her own, with Soun burying himself in his Hero work after his wife died. Needless to say, she and Ranma will get along a lot better than Akane and he did in canon, even if she still has problems with men because of Kuno.

c. It never made sense to me that All For One’s reign had been so buried. It will be known, and there will be a lot of marks on Japan because of it, in particular the Quirk Usage Laws, the intense adoration for Heroes and a bit more. I will also be pushing up his defeat, putting it barely four months before he met Izuku in canon rather than wherever it was, and as you can see from the above, the outcome will have been a bit different than in canon.

d. Technology will be closer to what it is in Ranma canon

e. The Amazons will eventually appear, but I won’t concentrate on them.

2. Hero Ranma. Once Ranma realizes he has a Quirk – this will not be easy or fast, since he’s stubborn as all get out and thinks it’s just his ki building up, Ranma will realize that he can help a lot more people as a hero then he could as a martial Artist. This will not be an easy road. Ranma is a martial artist and he prefers to help people then leave the scene, he doesn’t really do it for thanks, but because his Code says to. He also won’t like the whole Hero idolization, feeling that the idea of letting Heroes handle everything is simply wrong, like people deciding to be sheep.

a. Ranma will, while not having the massive issues Izuku had in canon, will still have issues with his body dealing with the immense power of OFA. He and Tofu will be closer because of this and the sheer number of times he’s been in to see him from self-inflicted wounds. But he will still be able to, by the time Ryoga comes around, manipulate the power within him to a certain extent, treating it like ki. But because of this, Ranma will have had to start thinking his way through things more, and use a minimum amount of force to end every fight.

b. Serious Ranma. The realization of the strength he contains will force Ranma to become even more serious about the Art and self-control then he was in canon.

c. Ranma and All Might will be meeting up once more, and that will be a very interesting discussion. Ranma will refuse to believe him at first, then become emotional, then turn down All Might’s offer of training “Hah, you call that training!” before turning it around him, and then really dig in his heels when it comes to school. Toshinori will however benefit from Ranma’s training. After all, while OFA might be failing, his body can still be trained anew.

3. Ryoga as a Villain. Ryoga will have made a name for himself before he shows up to fight Ranma at Nerima.  His ability to disappear from one place and reappear randomly is very well known, he has fought both Heroes and Villains worldwide, and caused a lot of destruction the world over. He will have a reputation among the other super-durable types, including up and coming heroes, who are just dying to test themselves against him. And instead of Ranma seeing Ryoga as a rival, with the power of OFA he will just overpower Ryoga. Ryoga in turn will resent this, and will search for ways to match Ranma’s new strength, which will lead him to bad places.

a. Ryoga will meet with and fight against Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, their fights will be drawn out but both of them will learn a lot from it while he will just get frustrated at fighting them rather than Ranma

b. Ryoga will also have made an enemy of Itsuka during the fight against Ranma. He wont’ see it that way for a while though, and will crush on her like he did Akane in canon, complete with P-chan. And like in canon, Ranma will be stuck with his honor not permitting him just shouting out his identity.

4. Aizawa/Ranma loathing. I still don’t think they would get along at all. Ranma has little to no concern about laws, only doing the right thing, would call Eraserhead an idiot for believing in logic in a world with magic and Quirks. Whereas Ranma thinks that most school subjects are stupid, and everything should be turned into training either for their Quirks or everything else. Aizawa will also hate the fact there are people out there who pushed their Quirkless bodies to a point well beyond his own training, and have a history with Genma.

5. Two Leads! – Yes, Izuku is going to be just as big a character as Ranma. Ranma will help this along by doing two things: forcing Izuku to stand up for himself (and making Bakugo eat his own shit several times) and showing him some American comics – Iron Man Izuku has been done several times, but that is because it makes sense damn it!!!! And Izuku will start to idolize Tony Stark, and David Shield in real life, as much as he did All Might in canon.

a. Ranma as a trainer: Ranma will train Izuku as much as possible, with the help of Soun and Itsuka. This will be a continual project, until Izuku is as good as he can possibly be, though he won’t have Ranma’s insane high kinesthetic learning ability. So while he will be fit, possibly as fit as Ojiro is in canon, he won’t be able to power through things like All Migth can.

b. Work that Brain! Ranma will push Izuku to use his brain which was always his strongest feature, and Izuku in turn will do the same for Ranma. He will force some common sense down Ranma’s throats, including some stuff he really should have learned before this point with hilarious results.

c. Different combat styles. Ranma is all about direct confrontation, using his speed, skill and at times brute power to overwhelm every opponent/problem in front of him. Izuku, with no Quirk and his power suit coming along slowly, will have to devise different ways to fight: traps, weapons, the use of the terrain, and so forth.

d. Combined, Ranma and Izuku’s ability to analyze and overcome will terrify and amaze in turns. They will help a lot of their friends to become stronger and better while also just flat out crushing a lot of the small fry.

e. A few people have wondered why I haven’t thought about merging HP and Ranma. If I can pull this off, the experience with two VERY different leads, I think that could be a possibility way down the line.

6. Romance: Both Izuku and Ranma will have girls after them. Neither will realize it at first, and off the bat, Ranma will have trouble with girls just because he’s never been around any {Ukyo: Hey! Ranma: I never knew you were a girl, that’s different} long enough to figure out how to talk to them or anything. Izuku of course has his canon issues with being almost cripplingly shy.

a. Harem denial! Ranma will at first want to settle down with only one girl, although this idea will take a lot of hits. Izuku will be entirely against the idea of two-timing.

b. Hijinks. Duh. Like seriously. I mean the girls to, while never going as far as the fiancé brigade did in Ranma canon, have issues with sharing just as much as Ranma and Izuku have with the whole situation.

c. Girls interested in Ranma: Momo, Itsuka, Nabiki (yes, she and Itsuka will be rivals) Miruko (yes she’s an adult woman that just adds to the fun), Shampoo, and Mina Aishido with Kodachi(but not the Kodachi of Ranma canon) as love interests only in their own minds. Eventually this number will shrink as his curse becomes more common knowledge, and the girls will learn the curse is permanent.

d. Girls interested in Izuku: Ochako, Pony, Tsuyu Nejire, Mina Ashido (yes she’s that flighty LOL) and Ukyo eventually along with, again eventually Melissa Shield.

7. Different teaching methods: Ranma will simply put his foot down on the idea of going to UA after seeing the curriculum. There’s too much wasted time and this whole ‘normal’ BS for him. With the rise of more villains than ever before and with Ranma’s proven skills Nezu will allow Ranma to be part of a revamped version of the internship concept. This means that teams of students will be placed with single heroes who agree to lead them in the field, taking any other classes as electives online. Real world training will take precedence over everything. Of course these students will have to pass a lot of tests, both physical and mental, and will be moved into the UA dorms to build a closer relationship. And even Ranma will have to agree to keep his grades up in the electives or else he will no longer be allowed to get access to their training centers, and may face other issues.

8. Nodoka and Inko. I think they could be good friends, and Nodoka needs someone normal, while Inko needs her spine reattached. I am… honestly uncertain how I will treat Soun and Genma. But Nodoka and Inko will step into the mother roles of not only Ranma and Izuku (obviously) but the Tendo Trio and several other characters who need it. Then Mitsuki will join in, and they will become the Mom Squad LOL.

9. Early Eri rescue. Ranma and Izuku will take on the yakuza along with the rest of their team to rescue the tiny cinnamon roll.

10. Romantically confused characters. Ranma will start off treating his curse like normal, and Kuno won’t be the only one to crush on his female form. At the same time, Kodachi will not be the only one after just the male Ranma who hates his female form. No, I won’t tell you who.

There you are guys, tell me what you think. And be sure to check out the site tomorrow night to check out the polls for August.

Is it wrong that I want them both?

Treant Balewood

I somehow missed this post originally, i regret that. I want both of these
