Chapter 264: Mindscape

Vivi continued to hear the voices of her Captain and Law having a conversation and also the voice of Doflamingo shouting at her.

She looked around at the empty darkness. 

“Come on, if I can hear what they say, there must be some way for me to see them! I need to know what is happening.”

She saw the light behind her getting more incense and turned around.

Reflected over the sphere were several moving images, like TV screens. They were showing her the current events on Dressrosa from many different angles.

“Umm…thanks.” She wasn't sure who she was thanking.

Her eyes moved to two images on her left. 

On one, there was Luffy fighting against two water golems, and the other one showed Doflamingo facing against three of them.

“Where did those things come from?, and why am I seeing everything from above?”

Since there was no one here to answer her questions, she had no choice but to draw her own conclusions.

For one, it didn't seem like she was dead, so that was great news. The fact that she could still hear and see Luffy and the others, must mean that she was still existing somewhere…somehow.

“Luffy!, can you hear me?!” She shouted at the top of her lungs.

Her Captain didn't seem to hear anything she said. He used his Gear Second, along with armament haki to destroy the water constructs.

She was truly unsettled by the fact that he was fighting golems made of water that reminded her of her water clones.

“Who is the one controlling them?.”

Part of her already knew the answer. Is not like there could be someone else with the same abilities she had. 

“Vivi!, wake up already!” Luffy shouted after bringing down the second water golem.

“Wake up?” She asked.

“Stop, Luffy!. Come back here!” Law prevented him from jumping up on top of the water creature.

Doflamingo for his part, had also defeated the five golems that were sent to him.

The angles of the images on the screens started to change and was finally able to get a look at the origin of the water golems in one of them.

As the giant water entity moved around, one of the images captured the colossal figure from the point of view of her right hand.

Vivi gasped in horror as she saw it.

“That's me!” Despite the lack of details and human skin. It was obvious to Vivi that this water being had her face.

“Wait, that's somewhat similar to my awakening form…but that thing is massive!” She exclaimed.

“No, that's not important right now…what's important is that I am not in control of myself and my awakening is going in a rampage by itself.“

She recalls being in a similar situation in the past. During her last encounter with Crocodile, she was close to dying when that old hag, Oren, took control of her body and she had to watch as she used it to rip Crocodile to pieces… literally.

“But this is different.” She noticed.

The sensation was completely different from the one she felt at that time. 

It was strange, but she could tell that no one was controlling her. This could only mean that this water creature was moving on instinct alone…her survival instinct must have taken over after she almost died.

There are still a lot of things she has yet to comprehend, like how she survived that attack, what happened to the Admirals and where was Nami.

None of the images showed the beach area and there was no sign of any of them.

“Please be fine…Nami.” 

She saw some of the images moving. 

“It's moving her hand…”

She then saw more of those golems being created and sent to attack Luffy and Doflamingo.

“Why is she focusing so much on those two? Could it be that she had identified them as the biggest threats on the island so she went for them first?” That seems like a logical move if this entity is not capable of more complex thinking.

But that would mean that something must have happened to the two Admirals, otherwise, they should have been the targets.

“Ugg…more of those things?!” Luffy complained.

“This is absurd!” Screamed Doflamingo.

“Show me your true self, Vivi!. You will never kill me with these useless puppets!”

Luffy seemed to be holding well enough against those water golems and she didn't care what happened to Doflamingo so Vivi was able to focus on more important matters.

“So…what now. If my theory is correct then, I am currently trapped inside my mindscape or something resemblant to that. Meanwhile, my subconscious took charge and is trying to eliminate anything that identifies as a threat to my persona."

Now that he was able to regain her sense, it shouldn't be too difficult to regain control of her mind.

The fact that she was able to hear and see what was happening outside was evidence that she still had some degree of control here. 

“Now all I have to do is…the rest…that sounds easy. Ouch!”

She felt a very unpleasant sensation on her right arm.

Her eyes moved to the screens, searching for an indicator of what happened. 

That's when she saw it. Two more people had arrived at the top of the castle.

Sabo and Nami were now standing next to Luffy and Law. 

She saw Sabo using his lighting ability to blast away the golems that were trying to reach them.

“Ug…that hurt…” 

She could feel pain from that attack. 

“Wait, pain?...this is it!, Sabo can do it!”
