Chapter 229: Captive

'So, Doflamingo is trading me for a fancy Celestial Dragon title. That's a good deal actually... why are the five elders willing to go so far to their hands on me? It can't be just because of what we did at Impel Down, right?.'

She made use of her near-perfect memory to replay the events from that day and analyze all the details.

One scene called for her attention. When Ace was about to be taken away by Kizaru in his ship, she performed a pseudo awakening to save him.

Her memories of that part are very fuzzy since she was not one hundred percent conscious of what she was doing at that point. But she remembered the words that Kuma had told her.

To never make use of her Godfruit powers in front of an Admiral.

'Did Kizaru see something that day? something that he reported to his superiors…seems like the most likely scenario. This means that 'She' is now aware of my existence now and will start sending everything the World Government has in store.'

Vivi laid back on the bed and sighed.

'There is no point in crying over spilled milk…and they were going to find out sooner or later about my power, there was zero chance to avoid fighting Marines Admirals forever. The question is…what do I do now?.'

She could certainly escape immediately from her confinement, but where could she go afterward? Her friends will take several days to arrive and to leave before that, she would need to steal someone else ship, but then she would be wandering the Grand Line alone with no idea where to go.

There was also another problem. Two Marine Admirals are coming, one specifically to get her and the other one for her friends.

If she somehow escapes Dressrosa, then her crew would be left to deal with Doflamingo, his family, and a Marine army worth two Buster Calls.

'I'm staying then. Now the thing is...do I wait for them here or leave and hide on the island?.'

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and the door opened.

"Come in, I'm presentable enough I guess…" Other than the shackles, she was only wearing the black bikini that she put on after taking her last bath with Nami, right before they arrived at Punk Hazard. Her winter robes seemed to be missing from the room.

"Excuse me."

A beautiful woman with long dark brown hair and a wavy long dress entered the room while carrying a small tray with food.

The woman walked gracefully to the table and placed the train down before turning around to look at Vivi.

"Greetings Nefertari Vivi, My name is Viola. I'm one of Doflamingo's subordinates and I will be taking care of you for as long as you remain our 'guest'...." her eyes went to the several sets of cuffs secured around Vivi's body.

"I'm sorry about that… Normally, a single set of seastone cuffs placed around the wrists or ankles would be considered enough to restrain a devil fruit user. But Doflamingo is being extra cautious with you."

"Don't worry about it, Miss Viola. Or should I call you Princess Violet?" Vivi answered with a smile.

Viola's eyes opened up like plates but only for a second before her expression regained her dignified aura.

"I shouldn't be that surprised that you are familiar with other royal families…Princess Vivi. But I am no princess anymore, so you can just call me Viola."

I am no princess either so you can call me Vivi."

Viola nodded.

"Your friends should arrive in a few days. Then, Doflamingo will let you go in exchange for Caesar, who has been captured by them. " She tried to reassure her.

"In the meantime, if you need anything, you can ask me."

Vivi wondered if she was being sincere and if Doflamingo had not informed her of his true plans. But she couldn't feel an ounce of deception from the woman, meaning that she truly believed her words.

'I guess is not that surprising that he doesn't completely trust her. After all, he is the one that took over her Kingdom, turned her father into a pariah, and killed her sister.'

"Thank you, Viola. If I require anything, I will let you know."

She was prepared to leave when something came to her mind.

"Vivi…there is something I wanted to ask you if you don't mind, is that okay?"

"Well, I don't have any places to go." Vivi mockingly yanked at her chains.

"Ask away."

"Why did you leave your kingdom and choose to become a pirate? I have been wondering that since I heard the news, three years ago."

"Oh, that's all? Is easy,  I just wanted to be free."

"You wanted to be free, so you became a pirate?" Violet stared a Vivi for a bit before laughing.

"Sorry." She apologized after stopping.

"But that was too funny, oh…but you must not feel very free at the moment, I suppose." Viola looked troubled by the fact that she lost control of herself.

"Hehe, don't worry about it, and...you couldn't be more wrong. I feel very free, and soon I will be back, sailing the seas with my best friends."

Viola smiled.

"I'm sure you will. You know...I kinda envy you, sometimes I wish I could leave everything behind and... never mind."

She gave Vivi a polite bow and opened the door.

"I'll come back later with your dinner."

Viola said before leaving.
