Chapter 228: The guest of honor

When Vivi recovered her consciousness, she felt some familiar sensations. Even before opening her eyes, she could tell that she was back in her own body.

She could once again feel the connection with her abilities.

‘Mmm…there is something wrong…my power feels somewhat restricted.’

Her eyes opened and she looked down on herself. Several chains were secured on her body. One cuff was placed around her neck and one more for each of her limbs. All of them were made of seastone.

‘That's a bit overkill…’ She thought.

Vivi wasn't really concerned about those cuffs, as she was confident to be able to nullify the effects of the seastone and break the restraints. But for the moment, she decided to scan her surroundings.

She was lying on a big, comfortable bed and the room itself looked very fancy with some dazzling furniture and a small bookshelf containing some old-looking tomes.

'How cozy.'

It reminded her a bit of the rooms of the palace back in Arabasta.

‘If I was taken by Dofflamingo is safe to say that he would take me to the island he controls, Dressrosa. How long was I sleep?’ She wondered how much time had passed since she asked Law to send her back to her body.

Vivi knew that the Shichibukai had a way to travel through the air with his ability which was much faster than traveling thought ship. This meant that Luffy and others could take several days to get to where she was.

She sat down on the bed and crossed her arms. The chains were long enough to avoid restricting her movement too much and she would probably be able to move around the room and make use of the furniture, albeit with some difficulty.

‘How considerate.’

It seemed like she was receiving the ‘highly valuable’ prisoner treatment by her captor.

She could feel a few unknown auras in the next room.

'Now… let's see what's going on around here.'

Vivi was about to enhance her observation haki to scan the island when she started hearing a heated conversation from outside her room so she enhanced her hearing instead. This must be her captor speaking.

"What do you mean 'think about it'? I have what you want and I'm only asking what is rightfully mine in return!" a male voice said.

"Now, Doflamingo…what you are requesting is not that simple, we need to consult with a few important people before making the decision." An elderly voice came out with a patronizing tone.

 'So the first one who spoke was Doflamingo. Who is he talking to?' Vivi wondered.

"Who the hell do you need to consult with?" Dofflamingo shouted.

"There is no one above the five elders in the world government!."

"Show some respect, boy!." A different elderly voice was heard, this one irradiated power and authority.

"What you are asking is different than what was offered in the wanted poster."

"Money?, I have plenty. But for you to offer that much…it tells me how important she is to you. If you are not willing to meet my price…maybe I will keep her for myself, hehehe." Doflamingo said with a tone of mockery.

"You insolent!-"

"Wait…"

The five elders seemed to be talking something among themselves but it was impossible to hear.

"Very well…well give you what you want." the third elder spoke.

"The Donquixote family will regain its status as Celestial Dragons. " The fourth elder said.

"But you will never set foot on Mariejois again. The land of the Gods will never welcome you." The fifth elder added.

"We have a deal then. I want the formal documents signed by the five of you, so one can speak against it." Doflamingo requested.

After a moment of silence, one of the elders spoke again.

"Very well. We will send Admiral Kizaru to deliver the documents and retrieve the girl, I expect her to be alive…oh, and you may receive a visit from another Admiral in the next few days. He and his men will be looking for Strawhat and Trafalgar Law, no need to concern yourself with him."

"That will be all. We will contact you again if necessary." A different elder added before the connection ended.

"Is that okay, Doffy?. You will not be able to go back there." A male voice that Vivi did not recognize spoke.

"Tsk…who cares about that. I never had the intention to go back there."

Vivi could feel the emotions of Doflamingo become more intense.

"So far, the Marines had allowed me to rule this place but that won't last for long…"

"Are you talking about what happened in Punk Hazard?" 

"Vergo was revealed as my spy and killed a Marine Captain. I have no doubt that Vice-Admiral Gion will try her best to have my title as Shichibukai revoked and then…" Doflamingo spoke.

"Then we will lose our only protection from the Marines." Finished the other man.

"With the title of Celestial Dragon returned to me, my position as ruler of this island will become unshakable. The Marines will not dare to lay a finger on me. And then we will be able to continue with our plans without more interruptions."

"Heheh, I can't wait!"

"Before I forget, Trevol…" Said Doflamingo.

"Yes?"

"Bring Viola here to take care of our prisoner, she knows how to treat a princess and is the best one to keep a constant eye on her." 

"I'll contact here immediately. By the way, Doffy. Was it necessary to put so many seastone cuffs on that girl? seemed a bit excessive. And you also want me and Sugar close by." Asked Trevol.

"My instincts are warning me that…that woman is dangerous. Besides, this deal is too important, we are taking no risks, is that clear?".

"He!, don't worry. You can always count on me!" Trevol assured him.
